School holiday BAKE OFF

How’s the holidays going friends? What’s the story with NSW and the rest of the states being so out of tune with each other? Made 78 million platters of food? Me too! I am digging deep as we head into the last few days and you know what I am doing? Baking. Getting the girls to bake. Eating ALL OF THE CAKE. In any case it gives you food to eat at the end, 12 minutes of them doing something else, and more mess to clean up.

I’ve made a LOT of apple crumble as I bought a massive bag of oats, and we have had date loaf, pancakes and pikelets, banana bread, you name it, we have done it. Hope this helps with some inspiration at this late stage.

  1. I have questions about Anne! I’ve trawled through the back-catalogue of posts and can’t find an answer… surprisingly really given how beloved she is! I’m going to bake her on Friday evening, to take to a family lunch (for a double birthday) on Saturday. Thinking I will make the icing and transport the cake un-iced, to save icing mishaps… based on your past experience, hoping to get your recommendations on the following:
    1. Will she be ok to transport ina cake carrier, un-iced, or should I wrap in gladwrap overnight? Unfortunately I can’t bake on the Saturday morning.
    2. Should the icing be stored in the fridge or on the bench overnight?
    3. I doubt there will be leftovers, but if there are, again, fridge or bench top?

    • She’ll be fine in a cake carrier overnight!
      Bench for the icing as there is so much butter in her she’ll go too hard
      I store on the bench.
