Local Spotlight: The Summerhouse Store, Exeter

Yesterday morning on a dreary and drizzly Spring morning, Mags and I went and checked out an Instagram friend’s new store (Linda from @thesummerhousestyle) which has just opened in Exeter. Linda and her Mum have years of experience in retail and styling and have a natural eye for gorgeous country style so I knew that it would be gorgeous, but I was blown away at just how gorgeous it was! It certainly brightened up the grey old morning.

Housed in the gorgeous cottage opposite the Exeter General Store (where Gallery Ecosse was previously located) it’s the most perfect setting for a store filled to the brim with gorgeous homewares, fresh flowers and pots, cushions, candles, clothing and furniture.

The space is small, but jam packed with goodness. It’s one of those places that you need to walk around at least 3 or 4 times because you miss something every time. I LOVE those kind of shops!

Mags helped out with the watering of the gorgeous topiaries out the front (that just quietly are the best value you will find anywhere!)

Funnily enough, it’s my Mums new favourite place to be…so much blue & white!

And a great selection of chalk paints for all your DIY projects you have at home. Linda’s Mum Pauline, will be running a series of workshops from here (you can get a whole list of various workshops being held on their Instagram page @thesummerhousestoreexeter while their website is still being worked on).

I think one of my favourite things about this place was the emphasis on value. There’s no clothing over $200 and of course Louenhide bags are always such great value for money. I know I will have a new place to get perfect little hostess gifts.

And Linda also travels to the flower markets each week to source fresh flowers that she sells – fresh little bouquets for $20 and bunches for $40.

And those clothes I was talking about for under $200? Italian linens!

Get yourself here if you are ever visiting down here in the Highlands and of course locals, we’ve got another great new shop…how lucky are we?!
