So last week my sister sent out a quick email to a few family members about catching up for a quick ladies lunch in the big smoke…we managed to secure a Monday that everyone could come to…given we all have kids it was 2.5 hours to be back in time for school pick up.
So I dropped the girls off at school, hit that highway and managed to get to Balmoral at midday for a beautiful lunch by the sea. A perfect summery (autumn) day with even my brother in last minute attendance. I even had a surprise visit from my bestie from High school and my beloved Mrs Munro who drove up and back for the lunch.
It was so gorgeous and I felt very spoilt indeed. Presents! BABY PRESENTS! Some flowers and a balloon! This was the perfect low key and last minute celebration…much like everything that has happened with this baby.
Look at this wee pig spoon from my sister in law. I mean REALLY.
And how about this basket stitching weave that Mrs M made for me? Framed! With little bits of her girls babies blankets and wonder suits woven into it! Just so special.
Baby clothes! Navy blue is a neutral in my book (don’t worry I don’t know anything you don’t).
And a balloon! A BABY BALLOON. Goodness me, I am feeling very happy and loved this evening. I’m having a night at my sisters and then tomorrow morning a quick trip to Ikea for some actual baby bits…we are having a baby. I still can’t get my head around it…
Fan of a fancy ladies lunch? Me too!
Did you have a good Monday too?
Ah, I should pop down the road and stalk you at Ikea tomorrow!! What a lovely day you have had, and how beautiful it seems to have been! Nice gifts too!!
Ha! I hope to be as quick as I can Mary!
So glad you had a wonderful time with your family and friends Beth.

That’s really sweet. I love a little pending baby celebration. How special is the woven piece???
VERY!
Oh Beth that basket weave with the girls’ bits and bobs sewn in is DIVINE. Be still my sentimental heart.
I know..that Mrs M is some friend x
A lovely lunch, family, friends and great gifts – the recipe for the perfect baby shower! It all looks glorious and Balmoral is the best spot, isn’t it? Enjoy IKEA!
Hadn’t been there for years…the best place on a perfect day!
Sounds like a wonderful day, nothing better than spending quality time with family and friends at this special time in your life.
It really was Wilma π
That basket! How beautiful and I actually teared up a tiny bit when I read it had parts of her own children’s baby blankets and wonder suits. Such a beautiful gesture.
It really is…I shed a tear too!
Woot Woot! Loving your navy and lemon neutrals…..and that woven keepsake precious!
It sure is…amazing!
OH! I would have flown down xx
Surely we can come up with an excuse for another? With my blogging family?
That Mrs Bruno is a bloody keeper! That’s the best gift I’ve ever heard of. Talent & heart out the wazoo!
Isn’t it amazing!!
What a fun day Beth. And yes, thank you very much – I am definitely a fan of a fancy ladies lunch!!!! If only I could “hit the highway and be at Balmoral by midday”….ha ha ha ha, I could “hit the highway at be at ummm say, Tennant Creek by midday, ha ha ha. So glad you had a lovely day. Can’t wait to see what you pick up at Ikea!!!
Ha! I am going to be very focused in Ikea…no distractions and straight to the baby section!
Navy is neutral. & just a reminder – your new stroller is not low-key. I love your new stroller. We’ve got a hand-me-down waiting in the wings for our impending arrival.
True CC – it’s the very opposite of low key! Hope you are feeling well π
How special is that? I have to say for baby three most people forgot I was even pregnant! I would LOVE a nice lunch out right now but mum and I are decluttering so we just don’t have time!
Go! Go! Go!
What a lovely day you had those presents are very special Beth Xx
They sure are – just lovely!
Funny, when we adopted our son the first outing we took him on was to Ikea!
I’ll never forget standing in the baby furniture section, trying to mix a bottle of milk (you know, shake the powder into the bottle and shake it all around) and thinking oh my goodness, I’ve got a baby again!! It was a delight and a shock all at once!
Sweet memory Jenni π
All things to do with family, friends is so lovely but with the added delight of baby talk and pressies it’s even more special.I’m thinking the tiny pink bottle on the table maybe a sign
There were blue plastic safety pins too!
