It’s been a big month of birthdays in our family…we have had Dots, then Mum then Rob and Maggie and ending of course with the big 4 0 for Lucy last week! This was such a special occasion for us…the baby of our (grown up family). We celebrated her birthday on Thursday with lunch with Mum and Aunty Tricia in Bundanoon at the new fancy pants hotel Osborne House. After lunch it was our regular Thursday night at the pub with friends…very casual but perfect to enjoy together. I think Lucy had a really wonderful day.
Friday was all about party prep – her and Chris hosted 65 at their place from near and far: friends from school, family and local friends and neighbours. These guys never do things by halves (you might remember their last party Brazil on the Hill? What a cracker that was!) Chris did all the food, we had to get decorations sorted out…they have spent many a recent weekend getting the garden and house all sorted. Lucy, Chris and I spent Friday running around cleaning, decorating and getting sorted before my brother, his son and girlfriend set up the nightclub of Lucy’s dreams in her garage. All she wanted for her birthday was to dance and with the smoke machine, lasers and lights and world’s biggest speakers…all her dreams came true!
Saturday we woke to a blustery, freezing cold day but thankfully sunshine all ready for the party. It was the best afternoon with happy visitors and a gorgeous looking birthday girl. They worked so hard and it really paid off and looked amazing.
Chris did the most fabulous job with the food – grazing platters to start with and then an amazing taco station set up for everyone to help themselves too. Followed later in the evening with desserts and then soup to warm us all up…it really was bitterly cold.
And then of course it was time for the nightclub to begin which did not disappoint…how good was it to just let rip on the dance floor? Let me answer that: THE BEST.
And so the festival is now officially over which is a bit sad. We have highlights on Insta if you want to have a look. You can check out Lucy’s here and mine here.
A huge thanks to them both for such an amazing party for us all to enjoy after too many years apart. Happy birthday Lucy! Welcome to your 40s, it’s going to be LOTS of fun x
Happy birthday Lucy! Would you share the details of your party outfit, and Lucy’s? You both looked fab!
Thanks so much! Lucy’s skirt was from Styling You The label (I think it may be sold out through now) her top was an old one we got from Zara in London 3 years ago. My outfit (top and pants) are new season from Sheike x
