Another long weekend has passed with lots more beautiful memories locked away with my brother and sister in law and their family. It’s been a tradition for them to come down and spend it with us for as long as we have lived here – I think this was 8th year.
You can check out what we have got up to over the years in this post.
Family arrived on a gloomy and dark Saturday afternoon (there was an Anne still warm in the centre on the bench though) before we headed out Saturday night up to the ball.
Then on Sunday it was a recovery lunch at Lucy and Chris’ house that my brother cooked for his tired sisters on the fire pit: some veal rib eyes and brisket and the most amazing potatoes EVER (details of those to come on the blog sometime soon). It was the most glorious afternoon with warm temperatures and sunshine, happy kids and delicious food followed by fireworks and a birthday cake for Ava who we started celebrating on these long weekends when she was just 4 and is now 11!
And then on Monday morning we went into Bowral to check out Mum’s paintings that were on exhibit with her painting group at BDAS (Bowral District Art Society) and she got a chance to see us all despite her having to miss so much this year with her knee.
Such a lovely weekend – I love these more and more as each year passes by and those little toddlers turn into teenagers…I don’t know how it happens but it just does. It must mean that we are getting older now too, but let’s not think about that.
What did you get up to on the long weekend?
Do you go away or stay put?
Got any traditions?
This looks like the most perfect way to spend a long weekend. I love your traditions every year, I think I look forward to reading about them as much as you look forward to them! Thank you for sharing x
Oh you are too kind! x
Looks like you had a great long weekend.
This is my favourite long weekend.
Years gone by it was firecracker night all rugged up (showing my age now).
This weekend my lovely husband took us to some day markets then we went to some new night markets and had a fantastic woodfired pizza and mini donuts. Yum. Think this might be our new tradition.
Sounds like a great tradition to me!
