Over and out 2017

Here we are, almost end of the year, a slightly stressed, more grey haired version of ourselves than we were in January. And for me today, it’s the last post you will see from me until 2018 as I am well and truly signing OUT and OFF for a little while. And boy isn’t it needed….phew what a year!

An amazing year filled with LOTS of travel, so many special memories, a 40th birthday and right now at the end of the year some really BIG NEW things that will be kicking off in 2018. I need to reset and recharge.

I do love a bit of a recap episode though. Let’s take a look at 2017.

Personal space was a bit of an issue.

We swam in waterfalls on hot January afternoons.

The apples grew on the tree. We picked and ate them.

Daisy turned 10. She has grown up SO much this year.

These two made me smile. A lot.

I won a few ribbons at the local show.

I ate a burger at a diner in New York City with my husband on a rainy Tuesday afternoon.

We celebrated lunch with all my family for Easter at our place on a sunny April Sunday.

Dorothy May was born.

I hosted my first ever “At the Kitchen Bench” events and met some amazing women (and men, onya Dave)

Maggie turned two.

I celebrated a special 50th.

We took an old school family truckster road trip to Victoria.

Mrs Munro showed me how to make this thing.

We enjoyed a gorgeous Christmas in July dinner with my mates.

I turned 40.

We went away for the most magical weekend away and took an afternoon walk on a freezing August Sunday with the most beautiful light I had ever seen.

I hosted a Spring fling lunch and cooked a lovely lunch for some special people.

I ate some dumplings in Singapore.

I swam in the warm ocean in the clearest blue sea I ever have seen, a long way from home.

We enjoyed a long weekend with all my family by the beach.

Harper turned 8.

I was dropped off  by helicopter on the top of a snow capped mountain in New Zealand. For real.

We enjoyed a weekend of family female power for Stitch and Bitch.

I had the most delicious Gin and Tonic in a fancy bar with my husband in Hong Kong on a Tuesday night.

The tree out the front grew. So did the girls.

The Christmas tree went up.

We enjoyed so many special memories with our friends.

And the star jasmines flowered again.

And then around we’ll go again. Who knows where I’ll go, the people I will meet, the things I will see. I know there will still be personal space issues from a toddler, navigating our last year of Primary School for Daisy and Harper’s never ending goal setting and hard work and high standards she sets for herself. There will be travel adventures for me I am sure, work challenges for Rob and I and comfort zones pushed and really exciting opportunities to conquer.

Bring it all on.

Here’s to a new year. To being kinder to ourselves. Talking nicer to ourselves in our heads. Congratulating ourselves on the stuff we do, rather than the things we didn’t get around to. Here’s to new beginnings, and all the hope that comes with a new year. There’s nothing like a fresh start to make you feel like anything can happen is there? Maybe anything can happen.

I’m going to give myself a pat on the back for a year of hard work that I have done. Blogging can be a lonely existence, and yet I keep coming on here, pressing ADD NEW POST and writing down some stuff. I have pushed myself way out of comfort zones and had the most successful year ever since I have worked professionally on my blog. I am achieving all the things I ever wanted and so much more. A special thanks to Rob for all the work he does for me, my sister who works with me and friends and colleagues who always help me out with stupid questions and when I am freaking out or self loathing or just unsure about everything work or otherwise.

And lastly a HUGE thank you to you guys. For coming here and reading the blog, pressing like on social media, sharing a funny story, saying hello in the supermarket and hugging me at events. You guys make this place everything it is…I’m just a bit of it…so thank you. I hope you’ll stick around in 2018 because there are some REALLY good things coming. I can think of three big ones straight off the top of my head. You guys are going to LOVE it all. Promise.

So thank you.
Merry Christmas.
I hope you get at least 90 mins peace between now and the new year.
I hope you know what a good job you have done, we all have.
Be safe. Cuddle your kids & loved ones. Properly Talk to your partners. Be grateful for good health.
I’ll see you on the flip side friends.
I think I’m going to miss you.
