Order restored & a Sunday lunch

Sunday morning at 6am Rob landed back from Europe and a few hours later was home sweet home. I think you could hear my sighs of relief all over the country. My partner in crime, those extra set of hands…I missed him so much and was reminded just how much he does for us all. Order restored again.

We had lunch at my sister’s place for my step dad’s birthday on a freezing winter’s day. One of those days where you couldn’t even go outside because it was that cold and the wind was blowing a GALE. I had quite a few people ask about my frock when I put it up on Instagram…it was THIS dress (green is sold out I’m afraid) from Little Party Dress and THIS scarf (I also think this is sold out but there are lots to choose from) from Louisa Rose & Co. I got the boots many years ago from Feather & Noise and the coat is also about 10-11 years ago from Target of all places. I think it cost me about $20 it was on sale on sale and reduced again. Still works a treat.

It was warm and cosy inside at my sister’s place and the food, table setting and company was ALL excellent! I think a long Sunday lunch is one of my favourite things to do, ever.

There was potato & leek soup, followed by beef bourguignon and I made dessert: a chocolate fudge cake which I will get up on the blog tomorrow! It was delicious. I know some of you will ask about that dinner setting too: it’s Jasper Conran’s Wedgewood chinoiserie collection. Isn’t it gorgeous? I think it was a wedding present.

There were baths and pj’s on before getting home and everyone getting to bed with happy and full tummies and one VERY happy Mum having everyone in the family all under the one roof again.

All of life’s simple joys enjoyed on one day: good food, a table filled with friends and family and a reminder of the importance of partnership in marriage and a dose of good old love thrown in for good measure.
