Breath of fresh air

I know you’re busy. Everyone is. But I thought I would take you all for a quick drive…it will only take 15 minutes. We’ll put on some quiet music, wind down our windows and take some time to be in the moment. I’m taking you on my favourite drive of all down here – the tourist drive from Robbo through Kangaloon. This is pretty amazing country. I mean REALLY pretty. Rolling green hills, plenty of pines and towering gums, winding roads and beautiful hundred year old stone walls lining the way. When we were thinking about moving down here awe took this drive and I knew that THIS is where my heart belonged. There’s no one around, maybe the post who is busy this time of year, but that’s yet.

Come on.

That’s better isn’t it? Thanks for the excuse to get out there…it’s a perfect summers day!

That IS better. Thank you. I was stressing out pretty badly this morning. Beautiful and calming.

  2. Your part of the world reminds me so much of Ireland with the stone wall fences and windy tree-lined roads. So lovely!

I agree! Can’t wait to visit beautiful Ireland again next year…that place stole my heart when we visited 7 years ago x

  3. I’m alone in my area at work at the moment, so I turned the radio off and read this with a clear and quiet mind. It was exactly what I needed right at this very moment. You live in an incredibly beautiful part of the world. Thank you for sharing this with us, Beth. x

  4. I’m packing up my house to move and sat down for a break. I checked my emails and went on a beautiful country drive. Ahhhh, that feels much better. Thanks.

  6. Aww, I think my heart belongs there too. I was born in the country and have always had a slight yearning for it. Thanks for the lovely photos.

Ours is indeed a fantastic country. I so enjoyed travelling along that country road with you. I loved the stone fences which are very reminiscent of those in the UK and the trees….there have to be trees of one kind or another. I would love to live in the country but we oldies need to stay in suburbia to be near medical support. We can still have our dreams though and sharing your drive today refreshed some of mine. Thank you so much dear Beth. xx

We are off to the country this weekend to where my siblings and I grew up as children. A place called Walwa with a population of around 300. I have a little about this place on my blog. Love all your photos. Hopefully I can get some good ones while I am away.

I would move down there in a heartbeat….but my husband says it is too cold and too far to travel to work! So alas I am stuck up here in the beautiful Blue Mountains….which is a pretty spectacular place to be stuck….but I grew up in England and your lovely little village and the stone walls and vistas along that country road scream to me of the Mother country! So I will be content to live it through your blog and visit often…..speaking of which…….please could you encourage your lovely readers to visit the Blue Mountains these holidays. After the devastating recent bush fires, the tourism trade is very slow and many businesses are hurting badly…..still plenty of beautiful spots to visit totally untouched by fire…..and actually I took a walk into the bush behind my house yesterday, which was completely burnt out and the regeneration is quite spectacular. So please everyone, come and visit, Annie M x

I will do Annie…I have heard that. Thanks for the reminder!

    • Southern highlands colder than the blue mountains? I think your husband is having you on!

      • Annie Maurer says

Compared to where we are it is, ahoy.jenni We live in Springwood….perfect moderate climate….not too hot in Summer, not too cold in Winter. Now Blackheath is definitely on par with The Southern Highlands, but that is a much higher altitude than Springwood. But do come see for yourself and bring all your friends…as I said to Beth, we need those tourist dollars for all our small businesses!

  10. You’ve captured the Southern Highlands really well with those photos Beth. Well done. It’s a part of NSW that’s a long way from home for me, l live up on the North Coast. 🙂
