You guys! Look what happened on the weekend! Harper turned NINE.
It’s hard to believe isn’t it? I can’t quite get my head around it. We had a very quiet time for her birthday as this coming weekend she is going to Luna Park with her cousins and that’s what she’s REALLY excited about. Friday night we went to dinner at the local Bowlo for some thai (Birthday girl’s request) with my Mum and Step Dad and sister who was visiting from Melbourne. Then on Saturday we had a cousin sleepover (little ones) and a pretty lazy day at home playing with new presents and a visit from Grandma who came down from Sydney.
Lots of lovely family time which is just what this little lady loves. She pottered about with her new bits and pieces and generally had a slow and quiet day.
Harper is such a special girl, she is FIERCE with her determination, her stubbornness and her ability to give anything a try. She tries so hard at everything that she does – sometimes to her own detriment as she strives to do everything SO well ALL the time. She’s so smart, and funny and creative and I know that she is going to do amazing things throughout her life.
From the small little lady who suffered with her health: asthma and eczema and of course her dreaded sleep for so many years she is blooming before our eyes into a confident young lady. Someone pointed out to me that she’s now half way to 18, half way to being an adult and it just doesn’t seem possible. She’s the one of my girls that has driven me absolutely bananas through the years (it’s that stubbornness that so many told me would pay off down the road that drove me to despair when it came to tantrums and sleep) and the one girl that I am constantly surprised at and in awe of for all her achievements and positive attitude to everything that she does. She’s going to move mountains one day, this girl, I can’t wait to watch it all unfold.
Happy birthday to our sweet, smart, sassy and stubborn Harper Lucy Macdonald, who somehow is now nine x
