Given our short stay here in Edinburgh (just 2 days) we had to pick and choose what we wanted to see and thanks to many recommendations from readers we were given a heads up about the FREE Museum walking distance from our apartment – perfect for kids for a few hours: The National Museum of Scotland. The weather was a little cloudy so we hightailed it there this morning to be there right on opening at 10am.
This place was amazing…really impressive. So many great exhibits that were interesting for adults with enough interactive stuff for the kids to do while you were looking. The building was beautiful…out came the sunshine pouring in through the windows which just looked so beautiful. There were sections purely for kids that had so much they could do, a great cafe filled with reasonably priced and much more interesting food for little people and the best coffee we have had so far in the UK. We spent over 3 hours in there and enjoyed every minute. Highly recommend for any families visiting this great city.
You can find out more about the Museum on their website here.
So pleased you are enjoying your time here in the U.K! You’ve discovered M&S Percy Pigs…..aren’t they delightful??!! X
They certainly are!
Hi Beth
Just wanted to say a big thank you for your generosity in sharing your trip & pics with us. Have thoroughly enjoyed living vicariously through your travels . At nearly 47 I’m still eagerly awaiting my first overseas trip (fingers crossed that if my daughters health holds out that will be end of this year) , so if that doesn’t pan out your posts have entertained me & given me that incentive to stay positive.
Thanks again – Enjoy!
Xxxx Deb

Wow it’s very beautiful and ornate. My 4yo would have adored all those dinosaurs and sharks. I’m a bit of a dino lover too, they just amaze me.
What an amazing experience for your little ones! Love!
Loving your blog posts from overseas. The architecture is such eye candy, so beautiful and ornate. Keep ’em coming Beth, love it!
