To market, to market, to buy a fat pig

There are some fresh produce markets held on the last Sunday of the month at one of my favourite restaurant’s down here – Biota Dining. We headed down there yesterday to check them out and just to be in their beautiful grounds. There are geese. There is an amazing kitchen garden. There is a little lake. There was local produce.

But best of all? If you wanted food you could get a SUCKLING PIG ROLL. An amazing local pork roll. Which had THE crispiest, glass like crackle, roast suckling pig, lettuce and some kind of fabulous aioli. I mean DEAR GOD. We stood, as a family, and watched that pig, smelling it’s goodness for the longest time.

Those are MY kind of markets. I’ll be back. Just to sit, smell and eat that pig.

  1. Oh yes yum! I do love a roast piggie but I don’t want it to look like a roast piggie, you know?!
I thought of you the other day when I had cubes of deep fried pork belly with Asian coleslaw at Red Spice Road Melboune. If you get a chance when you’re here on holiday, visit that restaurant and order the pork. You’ll be happy 🙂
Losing your posts, you’re a great storyteller.

  2. Heaven in the form of a sandwich.
I want to go to there!

In other food news, I am making Rob’s lamb kebabs tonight and am pretty excited about it!

  3. You had me at “THE crispiest, glass like crackle”. And now I am gone. Into some kind of pork fantasy land…

  4. Delicious! I can taste the crackling now…

  5. Those tulips are just spectacular!! Wow, I want to go there too. Don’t think my hubby would be too excited either though, lol!
