Thelma and Louise

The late afternoon saw the house empty, the girls bored, hungry AND tired and me feeling a little tetchy. So like we always do round here, we got in the truck and went for a drive.

Instantly I felt better. Well I got behind the wheel of a Ute firstly and that always makes a gal feel a little tougher. More like they can kick the witching hours goodbye. The afternoon was picture perfect. Late sun still warm, no breeze, the colours extra bright, the air getting crisp and cooler by the minute.

Harper was taken with the truck. I got out to open a gate (as soon as the kids get old enough that’s second on the list on shit that needs to be learnt after explaining how to unpack the dishwasher first) and she climbed over to have a go. She needs to get rid of those pink socks if she is ever going to be taken seriously. I mean really.

Daisy decided she was old enough to ride solo in the back. And I think she’s right, she just about is.

And when we were driving the girls faces said it all. This. Is. Bloody. Brilliant.

And it was.

  1. I spent many of my childhood in the back of the ute or opening the fence..also running from the cows I the paddock. It’s a great life and the girls will be doing it before you know it and then asking for their own quads and if they can drove the ute.
