Gypsy Rose for Jules

You guys might have seen on my Facebook page yesterday a little about Jules. If you didn’t, this is Jules. Isn’t she fabulous?

She’s an author, a blogger at Five Fairies and a Fella, wife to Gaz and she’s a wonderful Mum of 4 gorgeous daughters. She’s also been fighting stage 4 bowel cancer for a number of years.

I first “met” Jules through my Facebook page a few years ago when she posted a photo of herself with her fab new hairdo, and we stayed in contact over the years. I was lucky enough to go her to book launch last year in Sydney and we recently caught up again a few months back in Melbourne for the Bupa Blog Awards.

Boy is this woman a fighter. She keeps defying the odds and flighting this insidious disease, battling on and finding hope. This week her doctors told her that there’s nothing more that can be done with her treatment. The words no one wants to hear. While there still might be some more time left, with further investigations today, it looks like she will be moved into Pallative Care.

Her friends have set up a Go Fund Me page to raise money for Gaz to be able to be off work and spend as much time with her as possible and so many people have been generous to donate funds to help them out. People are so kind aren’t they? They are!

And you know who else is kind? My friend Sarah from Winton House Rugs based down here in the Southern Highlands. She has generously donated one of her gorgeous rugs for me to auction off so we can raise some more money for Jules and her family. And here’s the rug, she’s an absolute beauty (much like Jules) called Gypsy Rose.

This rug (143cm x 243cm), that will be auctioned off is worth a cool $1650!

All that we ask is that the “winner” pays the highest bid into the Go Fund Me account and then the rug will be shipped off to you!

So how do we do this? Just leave a comment in the post below with your bid. They will be in chronological order so you’ll know that you need to be higher than the one before you. Much like a silent auction where you write down your bids on a bit of paper. We aren’t going to set a reserve bid, start at whatever and let’s see where we go.

The auction opens NOW until 9pm AEST Thursday 10th November 2016. It is open to Australian Residents Only. And as I mentioned, the highest (winning) bidder will transfer the funds into the Go Fund Me account, and then the rug will be shipped to you!

Simple right? So let’s do this! Let’s try and raise as much as we can, whilst getting something fabulous for your home in the meantime. Thank you SO much Sarah and Winton House for your gorgeous donation. You will remember I gave away another of her rugs last year and I’m lucky enough to have one in our home and I can tell you that they are SO beautiful. Even more gorgeous in real life with the highest quality! Thank you so much.

Over to you guys…let’s get some bids up and help a fellow Mum and her family. I know I can speak for all you guys when we say to Jules that we wish you peace and courage for the hardest part of your journey yet. The bit where you have to say goodbye. I can’t imagine what is ahead of you all. Your girls will know your strength and love as it will live on in them, as part of them forever, and Gaz has been a lucky man to have you as his partner (as are you, what a couple you are).

Good luck and love to you Jules, so much love x

  24. Hi Beth, I was just thinking about Jules and wondering how they are all going? Thought you may know.

    • She is doing well all things considered. She’s moved into Pallative Care but there was some discussion of her being able to be discharged to go home which she didn’t think she would be able to do, so it’s good news. You can follow along on her FB page Five Fairies and a Fella for updates.
