Summer Harvest: Book giveaway!

How’s the holiday reading going? I have been REALLY slack this time round with only getting through half a book. It’s so annoying how whenever I am at home I just fall back into bad habits of device or TV and no book. Come on Holiday Beth, you were here for such a short time.

But if you have found your mojo and want to keep up the momentum I have something for you! A book giveaway from Penguin and I have not one but 6(!) copies to giveaway!

The book by Georgina Penney looks like a standard no brainer…a divorced woman comes to Australia (Margaret River) faces tough times and comes good. That kind of thing. But! The main character is called Beth and she’s working at a winery – tick right?

Would love to win a copy of this book – to read about another Beth and a winery – tick tick!! Enjoying following your blog and loving your recipes and LOVING that your life seems as absolutely crazy as mine ! Oh i made the fruitcake that i begged you for the recipe – enjoying a mere crumb or two (read SLAB) every night with a cup of tea!!

  2. I too have lost my reading mojo. I’ve gone from a book a week to almost zero. I would love a copy of this book to turn it all around!!

  3. Summer reading โค๏ธ I just want to read a book without hearing, Mum, Muum, Muuuum!!!!! The trick is to get everyone in the family on board and read together, at the same time, not the same book!

  4. mrsgabshowlett says

I would love to win a copy, love a good read and it appears ‘holiday Gabs’ has quickly been replaced by ‘holiday food provider’ and ‘holiday lets clean out every cupboard we own Gabs’ leaving little time for one of life’s small joys!

  5. Hi Beth – hope you enjoy the rest of your holidays & that you get a chance to finish the rest of your book. Summer Harvest looks like a great read – I would love the chance to win a copy ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. I like you had a big pile of books to read in the holidays but to work on Monday ? but I completed the first one last night and a chapter into the second one so that kind of counts for 2 right ??? I love a good Aussie novel and my son use to work in a winery ????

  7. I have lost my reading mojo so I’d love to win this book. I must admit the vineyard setting would be an idyllic life change.

Not much happening here sadly, 2 boys and school holidays. I find myself really enjoying a glass of wine in the afternoon! Trying to be more in the moment and to do more with the kids everyday. It is far to easy to get caught up in what I should be doing or zoning out online, instead of enjoying my boys company and playing with them.
    Always a work in progress.

  8. I would love to win a copy of the book Beth, reading is my passion! That being said, I too have fallen in a reading slump; I have to read two books by next week for bookclub and I’m struggling!

  9. Sonia Nunan says

Would luv to get my reading mojo back , this book could be the beginning of my forever house and reading time for me no screens , no TV just pure silence when the whole 4 start school little one will go to preschool 2 days , I’m still in shock that I won’t have anyone at home 2 days a week .

  10. Yes please! I bought a bunch of terrible books and they’re so terrible I start to read them then put them down again but I feel to guilty to buy MORE books when I have a few unread!

  11. I’d love to win a copy. I cant live without my reading – every night, after kids gone to bed, I make a cup of tea and read. Its my escape from reality, if only for couple hours a day.

  12. Lisa Mckenzie says

Would love a copy Beth ?I am currently reading Big Little lies and cannot put it down.its such a great read!

  13. I’d love a copy too please Beth. I have trouble reading at home as well – too many distractions and other things to do. However, I’m travelling to Phuket early May with mutual friend of ours ๐Ÿ™‚ and I’d love to lay by the pool and read.

  14. Shazziebazzie says

Oh yes please Beth. I seem to have a theme this summer. Reading books by strong smart women. I have read Magda Szubanski’s book, Amanda Kellers and Jessica’s Rowes books. This one sounds like it may be along the same themรฉ ?

  15. I would give this book a good home! I love to get into bed each night and read for a while. I’ve been a voracious reader since I was about six. I’m determined this year to read more of our great Australian authors – reading my first Michael Rowbotham novel now and it’s a cracker! I’d like my next book to be a change of genre and Georgina Penney’s sounds just what I’m looking for.

  16. Recently visited Margaret River, did some wine testing. I could live around them parts? That book sounds like a nice easy read.?

  17. Tania Simmons says

I love Margaret River wines, I love the name Beth (name of my miss 10), I love books & TV is SO bad at the moment (although I do love me a bit of trashy Housewives!).

  18. Allyson Wolhuter says

I would love to find a really good book to restart my love of reading. Maybe this could be the one. Yes please Beth

  19. Working full-time, being mum to 3 daughters and step mum to 2 kids, life can be very loud, crazy and chaotic. Jumping into bed at night with my book is my recharge time!! Would love to receive a copy of this book as I love reading all sorts of genres and I haven’t read this type for a while now ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. Of course I’d love to win this book, please and thank you.
I am at the end of the second Robert Gailbraith (aka JK Rowling) detective books at the moment…soooo good. Loving them. Since joining a book club of friends I’ve read much more than I would have normally over the past couple years. And different genres too. It’s been great.

  21. ” The book you don’t read won’t help ” ……so I think I need this book……?

  22. I’ve never heard of this book but it’s set on my side of the country so I’ll have to look for it!!

I’ve read a few books but then I started a book ice wanted to read for about 10 years & it’s just not grabbing me like I thought it would so my reading mojo has gone elsewhere. I should just start a bloody new book!

  23. Great timing……I am on my last book now, would love to start this one next, thank you Beth!

  24. I’d love to win a copy of this book please Beth.
I love reading a couple of chapters of a good book when I go to bed at night
and being an Australian one it would right up my alley.

I too have a Beth at my house : )

  25. I’ve got some new reading glasses to try out ?, and nothing on my bedside table to put them to use. Would love a good book to extend that holiday feeling just a tad longer!

  26. I’m a pretty big reader. Finished, this week, a Nicki French crime/thriller novel, although it wasn’t very thrilling, but ok.

After this mornings news, I’ve decided to return to my great love: Harry Potter…going back to book one and reading the lot…in memory of Professor Snape….Alan Rickman…you gorgeous, handsome, incredibly talented man…forever remembered for so many wonderful roles. x

  27. Kylie Miller says

Hi Beth! I took your advice and read Crazy Rich Asians and Crazy Roch girlfriend and loved both of them… I’m just getting back into the swing of reading since having my baby girl… She’s 5 months and I read all your newborn and baby files to see what was coming for me!! I’d love to win a copy of Summer Harvest.

    Cheers
    Kylie x

  28. I love reading books that are set locally. Would love to read this. Thank you for the opportunity.

  29. Leesa Dick says

I would love this book! I have my trusty Kindle that I’ve had for a couple of years now, BUT, there is nothing better than the feel and smell of a REAL book!!! Please please please choose me ???

  30. I’d love another fabulous sounding book to add to my pile of books to read. With two boys – 1 and 4 – I don’t get much time to read but when I do, I savour it.
And a book see in Australia about a woman named Beth – sounds pretty darn good to me lol

  31. I would love to win a copy of this book, I currently have nothing to read… Boo! This would kick start me back into my reading mojo. ๐Ÿ™‚

  32. I’d love a copy! Currently live in the Barossa (where my husband sells wine) and spent my honeymoon in the Margaret River so this sounds like my kind of book.

Really enjoyed Crazy Rich Asians and China Rich Girlfriend (having lived and travelled in Asia) – so thanks for the recommendation.

And pick up The Lake House! Kate Morton’s latest is fantastic

  33. Nina Downes says

I read my first novel since I had my babies on my beach holiday! Finally hoping to get back into reading this year (although have stalled since coming home).

  34. I’ve just recently gotten my reading mojo back and after giving away nearly 7 large boxes of books away last year in my de-clutter, I’m slowly building my book collection back up!

Summer Harvest sounds like it would be a good read with a few funny bits thrown in and it would be interesting to read a book that is set somewhat locally [south west coast]!

p.s. Are you still loving your Kindle? I went and bought one after reading your post and I have to say, I’m loving being able to read it in bed at night and because it’s so light, it’s easy to carry around in my bag during the day [it weighs less than my mobile!].

  35. I have just started getting back into reading. I used to demolish books when I was a young girl. I’m excited to see that my 6 year old daughter is the same as I was. After recently having my third child I promised myself that I would be happy even if I only get through a couple of pages each nite when I jump (fall) into bed. I’ve almost finished my first novel and am nearly ready for my next adventure.

  36. Leanne Murch says

went to the library yesterday first time in months!! Goal this year is to read more books! See how we go…..

  37. Yes please. I’m about to go back to work after a lovely 7 month break. It means a commute from the Highland to the City on the train and bus (three hours door to door) so I’ll have plenty of time to read. A free book will make the transition back to work much more appealing ๐Ÿ™‚

  38. Would love to read this Beth and I know my mum would too and her six sisters after her so it would surely get a good workout !

  39. I had the very best of intentions. Thanks to my dodgy health I decided to hand in my driving license last month so my husband drove me to the library to stock up for the school holidays. I had a bag full of books that sounded great when I read the blurbs but one by one I have read a bit & found they were not all that & put them back in the bag. Love a chance to win a book ๐Ÿ™‚

  40. melissa gasson says

    Oh yes please Beth xx

  41. Just found your blog Beth….you speak my language! I would love a book to read, I have lost all reading mojo the last few years since embarking on this parenting caper and I hope this is the year to find it again.

  42. Patricia Reynolds says

Would love to win a copy of this book to start reading when the kids go back to school.

  43. Mary Lou khan says

I would love a book to get lost in. Hubby works away last week of school holidays and when boys go back to school I would love just a bit of time to relax and read.

  44. Closest thing to a harvest win we will get this year…or last year…sigh…farming…

  45. Oh wow – it’s a real book, with pages to turn, and a lovely smell no doubt (which my Kindle does not). And it has a colourful cover with a picture of anlady who could be me – I have brown hair and sweep it in a low side pony, she has a beautiful basket and she has cool wellies (yep, I’m from England too). Looks lovely, sounds lovely.

  46. I’ve never really had a reading mojo, even at school I hated reading. But now I feel like I would love to give it a crack! This book seams like a good one to start! Liz

  47. Nicole Roberts says

Books are my friends, I live within them. I breathe them. And I am teaching my children to do the same.

  48. Wine and Beth? My favourite things! Ive been reading a bot of Cathy Kelly and Maeve Binchy, nothing too taxing. Id love to read the Elizabeth Gilbert book that everyone seems to be loving, but in the meantime, this is right up my brain mentality, easy enjoyable summer reading. Perfect.

  49. Fiona Gavin says

I love books but don’t read nearly enough anymore.. So I’ve set myself a reading challenge this year; 12 books – one for each month. First book of the year: The Happiness Project (Gretchen Rubin)

On a side note, i have to say Beth just how much i love Baby Mac! My best friend put me on to your blog a few months ago. Like you we have baby girls, born four days apart at the end of March. I love reading about Maggie and reading your blog is a highlight of each day. The sheer frankness of it.. the emotion and honesty… I so often get a laugh. And I’ve tried several of your recipes too. This blog has become my absolute favorite, so all i can say is thank you. Thank you for your words and the little bit of brightness you put into my day ?

    Fiona

  50. Hello, I would love to win this book as I am trying to read more books and less screen time. This would be prefect for my upcoming holiday. I love your blogs and following your journey.xxxx

  51. I would love a copy thanks! Very into Australian fiction at the moment too which seems timely. January is my month to read before all the chaos starts again. Gunning it this year – 4 books down. Just started on Crazy Rich Asians on your recommendation. Thanks kindle for the sale price

  52. My kinda story! Like you, holiday reading has not been as prolific as i had planned pre-hols.

  53. Lianne Dawson says

I would love to read this book thanks for the chance to win a copy

  54. Oh yes please! I would love a copy Beth. I am about to start a book club with some mums from school…maybe Summer Harvest could be my first pick? Xxx

  55. Yes please! We moved to WA nearly three years ago and Margaret River is one of my very favorite places.

  56. I would love to win a copy please. I have recently joined a book group and it is fab. We are reading ‘I am Pilgrim’, and I am really enjoying it.

  57. Lyn Schubert says

Love a “local” book. Thanks for the chance! Cheers LynS

  58. Amazingly, I actually have been reading, and loving it! ๐Ÿ™‚ often when my little man is hanging off my boob- just hit 4 years of feeding not stop (not all him ?)… Phew! Would love a newbie to read and then pass the love on to a friend xx

  59. I love to read. I used to read a lot. Kids get in the way. My 2016 New Years Resolution was to read more. Help me kick that off please? Thank you. Kim x

  60. I’m usually not a reader. I used to be, but once I had kids I kinda stopped for some reason (have no idea why – probably nothing to do with the 1001 things you have to do as a mum + lack of sleep + can’t be bothered factor) BUT over Christmas I was given a couple of books (which I’ve nearly finished), and now I’m really getting back into it. Would love to add this book to my ‘to-read’ list! Thanks!

  61. Love your blog, with two 20 something children it takes me back, CANNOT believe my baby has just finished Uni & about to start his first real job. Working right through Christmas hence ZERO books read! Need to schedule some time ? Priorities!!

  62. Megan Fegan says

Yes please! I would love to keep myself busy away from devices and TV for as long as possible before the school year starts. Love long summer days outside reading

  63. I am a huge reader but usually ‘light escapism’ books. That’s about all I can manage when the kids are in bed. But there is one book I am about to start reading. I bought it for my husband for christmas…it’s called “Earthing” and is about the natural healing energy of the earth. I think it was a hit as my hubby has been walking home from the bus stop in his suit WITHOUT his shoes so he can do some Earthing! ๐Ÿ™‚

  64. We live in a grape-growing region in SA and grow grapes ourselves. Having worked at the local winery during vintage myself, I’d love to read another view of it. Plus….time to sit and read would be great! Thanks for the opportunity ?

  65. I do love a book giveaway! Always love your holiday reading recommendations, have added many to my ‘must read’ list … What did you think of the Kate Morton book you were reading?
I never find enough time to read but middle child is soon to spend a large amount of the year in hospital & isolation for recovery which will mean a large amount of sitting with her for me … This would be perfect to have sitting in my bag to pass the time.
Thanks for the chance to win a copy Beth! xx

  66. I’d love to win one!

  67. I’d love a new book. One of my new year goals is to read more paper books… and then to set them free for others to enjoy via bookcrossing! x

  68. Kelly Brown says

I’d love to win a copy please because I love to read a variety of books. Reading clears my mind and helps you escape for a while.
