Christmas 2015

Here we are, Boxing Day already, Christmas done and dusted for another year. And wasn’t it a great one! We have had the loveliest few days filled with lots of family and friends, happy kids, excellent pressies, lots of flowing champagne and good food.

My Dad and Step Mum and Rob’s Mum arrived Christmas Eve afternoon, we headed up to the pub for the annual Santa visit then home for a simple dinner of ham and prawns, before getting to bed pretty early.

Yesterday we had an early morning opening pressies then a relaxing morning lazing around enjoying all our excellent gifts. I prepped a simple and really yummy Christmas lunch before seeing my Dad off and settling in for a lazy afternoon with lots of play, board games and Christmas movie watching.

It was really a very quiet and lovely Christmas indeed. I hope yours was too!

This morning I have been busy getting all the Christmas decos and tree put away (we head away tomorrow up to the farm for a few days so I wanted to make sure we didn’t come home to a dead tree like last year). There’s freshly mopped floors, 3 loads of washing done and put away, some bags to be packed a pav cooling on the bench as we’re about to head over to Mum’s for the afternoon.

I hope you all had a fabulous time with your loved ones and are able to take some time to put your feet up and catch your breath after a crazy time. I’ll see you guys from up at the farm x

How was your Christmas?
Get some good pressies?
Got some time to put your feet up?

  1. Looks perfect. I love the idea of a low-key, simplified and relaxed Christmas. So tired of getting to Christmas and feeling like it’s just another hurdle to get over because the lead-up and the day are just so frantic – really don’t think this is a great message for my kids either. My resolution for next year is to find a way to simplify it all and get back to an enjoyable family Christmas instead of the expensive extravaganza it’s become. Rant over.

  2. We had one of the best Christmases in a long time. Was a really lovely chilled out day full of family, friends, good food and drinks. Have a great time at the farm.

  3. We had a lovely Christmas day. Lots of family, lots of kids, lots of food & lots of laughs. We do a, not so, secret santa for the adults & I think my sister has been stalking my pinterest, she make some great choices & I was very excited 🙂 my husband had obviously been paying attention to my rambling, he gave chocolate, dvd’s & a cookbook. Looks like you all had a great day too. Can’t believe after all the anticipation & preparation it is over !

  4. all looking good beth!
you are rocking those pavs now hun!
omg is there anything you can’t do?
    clever and capable girl!
    mags is hilarious!
    hope you are enjoying today!
    much love m:)X

  5. Looks like you had an amazing Christmas!! We had a lovely Christmas surrounded by family and friends , naturally we all indulged in too much food .

  6. I do Boxing Day every year as our Xmas day. The kids can go to their partner’s family and there is no argument about whose turn it is etc, but turn up for my day. This year, I have one son in NYC and one in Germany, so my daughter has to carry the parental responsibility. I also have two step children and two grand babies with them so it is lovely that everyone comes on Boxing Day. I really enjoyed today, it was great. Everyone had a good time, there was plenty of food and drink and it went well.

I love Xmas and now it’s over for another year. Oh well. Have a lovely time at the farm, we are going up to our holiday house at Swansea Heads early January.

  7. Looks lovely and you have been killing me with your ham on toast shots! So jelly bones because it’s our first year without a ham in like forever.

We had our first ever Christmas Day without any friends or family because we recently moved overseas and I was a little nervous that it would just feel like any other day but it ended up being a great day and we created some new memories and traditions.

Enjoy the rest of your holidays!

  8. Looks like it was a smashing Christmas in the Babymac house! We were up to Grays Point for Christmas Day and I am so grateful that my parents were there even with ill health. Off to Canberra for Boxing day with Wayne’s family. Lots of KM done and dusted – home by 9.50pm – Phew home at last. Slept in ’til 10am this morning. Cooked breaky of rye toast with smoked salmon and poached eggs and coffee – no hollandaise sauce (too hard since the mandolin accident on Wednesday night). Washing on, cricket on…..

  9. Looks amazing Beth. Especially nice to have a lovely and relaxed Christmas. I’m like poppy (above) and we do Boxing Day so the kids can get the in-laws done on the 25th without stress and too much running around. It was such a good day. Tons of food, but relaxed and fun. Last guest went home at 1.30am and I fell into bed with aching feet and a very happy heart! Oh by the way, I made your Christmas cake this year instead of the one I normally make. It would have one a bloody prize it was so magnificent. Thank you for sharing the recipe. xx
