Miscellaneous 26

We have a local mythical bunyip that is meant to live in surrounds of our village. This week though, the bunyip has been replaced by a new strange creature that has been sound around town. Known as the Red devil, I have photographic evidence for you all today:

The Red devil came about from a local’s 50th Birthday party held on the weekend. I don’t know the story behind it but I do know that there was a photo of the red devil placed on the village Facebook page on Sunday morning saying “there is a sheep, a red sheep, with what appears to be a necklace on, eating grass in our neighbours backyard. Does anyone know anything about this?!” Red devil escaped the soiree on Saturday evening and was last seen running down the main street. I believe the devil now resides in a paddock down the road and is easily spotted. Who needs a bunyip when you have a fancy frocked up sheep?!

Wondering how the old 5/2 fasting thing is going for me? Not well. I did it for 2 weeks and then seem to have had 2 weeks break. I am SO consistent with my inconsistency! I’ll jump back on board post holidays I think. Maybe. Another update on my skin – it is FINALLY getting better. FINALLY. I have been on antibiotics for weeks now, but there has been an improvement at last. It’s amazing how much better you feel about yourself when your skin looks normal.

I loved reading this blog post this week.

Beyonce opened up about marriage, motherhood and giving birth in her new HBO documentary, Life Is But A Dream. The R&B superstar also talked about her life with her rapper husband Jay-Z and their daughter Blue Ivy. The Crazy In Love hitmaker co-directed the HBO special, which was broadcast in the U.S. on Saturday (16Feb13) and aired after an interview with talk show queen Oprah Winfrey. Beyonce told Winfrey, "I feel so fortunate to do my job. I love my job. I love singing. I love the way it feels." She also admitted that she wants to have another baby once her upcoming world tour ends. She added, "I definitely want another child... It was important for me to do what I love and I love to perform and I love to make music, so I wanted to have my daughter and see if I was still as passionate. Maybe after this next tour I'll maybe have another baby." I watched a doco on Beyonce last week on ABC2 and I am STILL obsessing about it. Created by HBO called Life is but a Dream if you can see it, DO. She is such a smart woman. Savvy. Creative. Humble. Kind. And I just want to watch it again. Did you see it? Did you LOVE it too?

Speaking of watching stuff did you see a new season of Survivor started on GO last night? Fast tracked from the US it is players from previous seasons and their loved ones and so far it is REALLY good. You should watch it, you should! Do we also need to talk about The Bachelor? And Tamra and Eddie’s wedding?

It’s the School holidays almost! Does that make you a little happy and a little tired at the same time? I am always thrilled for the initial staying in PJ’s and being lazy and not packing a lunch until my voice is hoarse on the first day from the fighting between the kids and the I’m bored and I’m hungry’s. School holidays ALWAYS mean that the kids get sick though – although this time around we are coming into them both quite sick…it’s going to be a joy!

The garden has gone mad with the sunshine and rain – proper, soaking rain. Even my Daphne is still going strong. And the very BEST bit? I actually have a tulip coming up. Yes! It wasn’t too late when I planted them at the very end of May. I can’t tell you how pleased I am about it. It will be the most photographed tulip that ever there was when it comes into flower…watch this space.

Tomorrow we are off to the Zoo in the morning and then away up the coast to a friend’s place for the weekend. I’m so excited about catching up with some friends that we haven’t seen in YEARS. It’s entirely inappropriate that it’s been that long. There will hopefully be some sunshine, plenty of champagne and good food in between…can’t wait!

Isn’t the red devil fabulous?
Tell me EVERYTHING about all of the bad TV shows!
What do you have planned for the School holidays?

  1. I feel sorry for that poor sheep – I’m not into doing things to animals [no matter how harmless it may seem] to give humans a laugh BUT that’s just me 🙂

I just finished watching Tamra’s and Eddie’s wedding and I don’t know, I was left a little underwhelmed. I get that she considers Eddie to be the love of her life but it just seemed WAY over the top to me. All that being said, I’m not a huge fan of Tamra anyway, she can dish the shit out but she can’t handle having it dished back to her and she is such a little bully bitch – her and Vicki, my least favs on RHOC!

Do you watch RH of Miami? I’ve recorded the season that’s airing on Foxtel to give it a go and I’ve watched two episodes so far – they’re interesting that’s for sure. Am eagerly awaiting the premiere of the Australian version of RH, it will either be fkn fabulous or completely cringe worthy, I’m hoping for the former!

I haven’t watched Miami…tried to give them a go but never seem to catch on to them. The wedding was absolutely over the top! And yes, am anxious about the Australian version – we always seem to get it so wrong!

  2. I LOVED that Beyonce doco! I loved how she spoke about the women in her life, her ‘sisters’ and how they fulfil her in a way no one else can. I’ve got such a girl crush on her! And watching her perform is mesmerizing. Every Wednesday night on ABC2 they have been showing music doco’s, they are so so good.
A couple of tulips popped up this week here too!

    • Just clicked on that blog post by Matt- loved it. I was ninja mum in the post office this week because I said no to a box of tic tacs! Damn you Australia Post I will not give in to my toddler because you put lollies at the counter at child height!

    • BabyMacBlogBeth says

I’ll have to keep an eye out for others – they are always so interesting to watch don’t you think?!

  3. Beth is the doco still available on iview to watch?

  4. Bar 4 days, I’ve had at least one school child home everyday for the past three months. To say I’m going a little loopy is the understatement of the year. Damn long summer break and chickenpox! Not to mention that it’s Eid in 3 weeks time which means another week off school.

I’m very late to the party but sometimes I hide from the kids and put on the Kardashians. It’s therapy from the “mum can I have some Vegemite toast??”.

Besides that sometimes I watch Arab Idol or Arabs Got Talent or The Voice Arabia. I have no idea what they’re saying but the hairstyles are fabulous!

thanks Beth for sharing that blog post. My kids are past the toddler stage (but still good for the occasional meltdown, what am i saying I still have meltdowns, so of course they still do also) anyway i love this bit best of all – “Parenting is the easiest thing in the world to have an opinion about, but the hardest thing in the world to do.”
So true. Enjoy the holidays. and your tulip! Fiona x

  6. The red devil is totally fabulous.
I couldn’t bring myself to watch The Bachelor, the ads had me petrified for how bad it would actually be.
My little ones aren’t old enough for school yet….but next year!!

  7. the red devil is weird. Freaky almost. I LOVE the Bachelor. Great viewing pleasure. As for holidays I plan on torturing myself first with a marathon and then Im going to paint a room and go and hibernate at my mums for a few days where she can tend to my every need!

  8. Alli @ ducks on the dam says

I love that you have a village fb page……. very modern times. Red devil. I can see that happening around here. Maybe it is a country thing but birthday parties seem to get bigger and “more out there” the older one gets around here. Some fabulous ones.
Enjoy your hols. I know I will be. Off to the big smoke and then down the coast. Can. Not. Wait.

  9. I saw Beyonce and didn’t like it as much as you.

    I’m mad for crap tv.

Hope you saw the Chelsea Flower show thing on lifestyle last pm.

For school hols I will rejoice re no kids on my bus and feel sad that they clutter up the city at lunch.

  10. LOVING ‘Sleepy Hollow’ right now and the new season of ‘DWTS’ pretty much my biggest, guilty pleasures right now.
I am SO going to have my grade 8’s write haiku’s about that sheep C:

  11. I watched it on the plane recently and LOVED it! It was just one of the best doco’s I have seen and so humble. Such a must see ! xx

Loving the Bachelor atm I am not really into reality type shows but i think i am a sucker for romance and he is quite hot, actually very hot ,I do feel sorry for all those girls, but i supposed they chose to go on the show.I watched a show on Thursday night on the ABC, Middle Class Bogans…..check. it. out. So0 tacky but quite funny ,love your Red Devil he is Fab and i hope you have a good school holidays and the girls behave and don’t be sick, have picnics and go for adventures Beth and enjoy that beautiful garden xx

  13. Yes! I thought BeyoncĂ© was amazing…what a chick! I wonder what it feels like to be so talented..hmmm…
School holiday tip: Don’t plan a kids birthday party on the first day of the school holidays because all the kids are so tired and emotional, as are the parents, its a really bad time to have a party. And, a big AND ….don’t invite your two oldest friends who don’t have kids to the same birthday party, because they have no idea about tired, emotional kids and parents so it is a recipe for disaster. *Sigh*
I am in recovery for the rest of the holidays….lots of wine and trashy TV on the agenda!

  14. Loved that parenting post by Matt Walsh. Man, can he write?! Holidays are jam packed. I’m going to make sure there isn’t time for fighting. There won’t be time for pjs, but there also won’t be time for fighting. Yes! Finns reserve today, Lego building at our local shopping centre, grandmas tomorrow, a picnic at wyreena arts centre on Thursday, port fairy in Friday. After a few days there, we do the jam-packed thing all over again next week. Will keep you posted! Have fun at the zoo. Glad your skin is a whole bunch of awesome now. Xx
