Miscellaneous 20

You know what arrived in the mail for me this afternoon? THIS! Simone from Honey and Fizz {who has fabulous taste  and style} has created these gorgeous wall hangings for sale for just $40. They are screen printed on beautiful linen and are fabulous quality. And the message? Best! Thank you so much Simone! You can buy yours here. Go on!

I think it’s going to be one of those things that gets moved around the place, but right now it’s sitting in the main bathroom…and I love it!

Have you heard of ponte pants? I hadn’t either! Styling you has written about them before and when she was down here for Mrs Woog’s birthday party, she made me buy a pair of fancy ponte pants! Now, they look to me like the old-fashioned Jodhpur (remember them?), but apparently these have different powers. So what’s the verdict from me? I like them. Very much. I wear them under long tops/jumpers/dresses and every time I have worn them someone has asked me what/where they are from and I have GREAT pleasure in telling them, they are PONTE PANTS! Ponte!

Speaking of pants, I purchased these earlier in the week. I know that the patterned pant was big last season, but I am ready to embrace them this Spring. I’m nervous, I must admit, but if anyone can do it. It’s me.

Have you been eating your porridge for breakfast? Me too. I like to eat it with some yoghurt and strawberries on top and a wee drizzle of golden syrup. I know! Oink. It is tasty though. And I can’t substitute for honey because I struggle to eat the stuff after completely overdoing it as a child. I ate an entire loaf of white bread and honey sandwiches (Mum should NEVER have left that on the bench within my reach) one time and have never been able to eat honey since. See? PIG.

Porridge

This week my beautiful Brother in law (the chef) put in his resignation and will be finishing up in a few weeks time on the industry he has spent his entire working career in. I am SO proud that he is taking a chance on a new career (as a landscape gardener) and I wish him the very BEST of luck and success. I reckon he will do brilliantly, following your dreams and your heart always works out. It just does. Remember that degustation dinner he did for some friends of theirs? I still kick myself that we didn’t get an invite to that. It was SOME lunch. You can read about that here in this post. Good luck Chrissy, and well done! Making the decision is half the battle I reckon x

The garden has gone MAD and thinks it’s spring already. Everything is a good month ahead of where it usually is, including the blossom on my pear tree. Bulbs and popping left right and centre too. I hope we don’t get a cold snap that ruins it all…although I suspect we will, it’s just not right.

Happy Weekend friends! I have a pretty quiet one planned including some episodes of Game of Thrones which we started watching last weekend. Bring it on!

Own some ponte or patterned pants? Like ’em?
How do you eat your porridge?
Even changed your career after about 20 years?

Comments

  1. No ponte pants, but I did proudly own some tie-died “Bali” pants, back in the day….

Porridge for breakfast this morning – I too like a bit of yoghurt, I went for blueberries (only a bt shrivelled up) and honey. Yum.

I have been at various points in my career a Catchment Management Officer, a wholesale travel agent, a retail store owner, a resort manager, a high school science and maths teacher, a Discovery Ranger with NPWS, and a library assistant. Still got heaps of time to add to that list!!!

  2. My husband left the chefing thing in January this year. He was starting to hate it all. He has been in his new career for 7 months now and LOVES it. The hours are heaps better too. I hope things go just as well for your BIL.

Thanks so much for letting me know Sue. I know the same will be the case for Chris – I wish him only the best, he truly is such a beautiful man. So glad for your husband too!

  3. I embraced the patterned pant heavily last summer – to the extent that I own 4 pairs. Last week I added to my collection with a fab black and white pair from Tigerlily – I love that they look great with a flat sandal or even the old havaianas and you can dress them up with a heel. If I’m honest the elasticised waist also holds some appeal … errhumm ….

    • BabyMacBlogBeth says

That’s it! COMFY. I also discovered Tigerlily on my trips to the big smoke for TV where I meet my sister for lunch and peruse David Jones beforehand. It’s a great label…such great stuff. I’smuch a fan and hope to get something for the summer.

  4. I bought a Ponte Dress a few weeks ago! Love, love, love it!!

Seeing as though I was gallivanting about the outback last year pretending to be some sort of Lady Sarah Ashley character, I feel I am a year behind all the ‘trends’. So everything that was so hot last year, I’m like oooooh that’s nice! *insert eye roll from my sisters and friends* ‘Oh Emma – catch UP!’ Pattern pants…writing it down. And ponte. Ponte.

  6. Oh yes to the patterned pants!! Embraced them fully last summer and am about to add at least one new pair very soon! Haven’t done the ponte thing but seeings I take on a lot of Nikki’s advice I’m sure it will happen! Porridge and honey, porridge and cinnamon, porridge and bananas – there are many combinations in my bowl!

Your fruit trees are flowering? Crazy. We, in North West Queensland and a lot of other parts of Oz, are struggling with a severe drought. What is going on?

  12. ahoy.jenni says

Ponte…yes I had to say it too. Ponte.
Career change, not me but hubby changed from horticulture to primary school teacher at early 40 yrs old and now has found himself specialising in kids with autism/special needs. Amazing…and he loves it.
Patterned pants…I haven’t been game…I don’t know why but they scare me now…maybe in the summer I might get brave.
Bring on the blossoms please ASAP!!
Oh and I am currently studying for a career change and shouldn’t be reading this blog! This is my study day…oops…
