Bathroom Pretty: Part One {& GIVEAWAY!}

Over the past year we have been filling the house with new bits & pieces including buying some big ticket items as we are finally in a grown up house, and it’s time to be grown up. Bit by bit we have purchased new dining tables & chairs, sideboards, dressers, couches…it’s been expensive! While the main rooms look great now some of the other areas need attention – like the bedrooms and bathrooms. How do you make a bathroom look great? We have a fabulous main bathroom that the girls & visitors use but it’s big, and sparse, and I just haven’t known where to start with it. I think it needs some colour, or more organic surfaces in there – like wood, or baskets and artwork…but where to start?

I decided to start here:

With a fabulous tea towel that Eden bought Kim and myself when she was over at Blogher earlier this year. It was from Anthrolpologie where I would give my right arm to get into. Sure, online shopping can be done, but I NEED to get to one of these stores. Somehow. And in the next little while. While it is a tea towel, it’s quite small so I decided to use it as a hand towel and instantly it brightened the sparse tiley space.

The girls towels work with it too, as does this cheap little rag rug that I got from a Homewares store in Bowral. Fun, colourful, it started to look a little better.

Then I came across these fabulous decals from Elly Nelly on one of my all time favourite online stores Gallop Lifestyle. I loved how they were quirky, but still stylish and while they would be fun for the kids on the bath tiles, they weren’t too kiddy.

What do you think? Aren’t they FABULOUS?! I had a great time with Harper putting the decals up and the girls have spent each bath working out who everyone is.

Now there is still a loooong way to go. A whole lot of blank wall that I think I will either fill with a framed poster, or lots of smaller frames with photos and artwork from the girls. Or something. It’s a start. And I love it!

I also picked this little print up from Gallop for $35 which I will frame and put above the toilet. It’s brights and fabulous too and ties in with the rest of the colour vomit I have going on elsewhere.

Now for the really good bit. Well for you guys at least, I had to fork out the $50 for mine! I emailed the lovely mother/daughter team Elaine and Nell to tell them how much I loved the decal and would they love to give my readers one of them? They design the most fabulous prints, fabrics and wall decals – check out their website for their collection. And you know what? They said “we love your blog” really, they said that, then said “sure thing! Let’s giveaway a Walk this Way decal in black worth $50 to one of your Australian readers”. And I said “Um. Awesome! THANKS LADIES!” And you know what else? Nell has just had her first babe (Elaine’s first Grandchild!). Congratulations!

So. To win one of these fabulous decals that you would normally have to pay $50 for just leave a quick comment in the post below. One comment per person open to Australian readers only. Giveaway is open for one week so closes at 5pm AEST on Wednesday 26th October. What you waiting for? Go!

And? You are most welcome! Lucky bastards…
