Stitching. Bitching.

It’s hard to believe that another year has passed by since our last all female family catch up…otherwise known as the Annual Stitching and Bitching Weekend. You take 4 Aunties (who are mothers), throw in 6 of their own daughters, 2 daughter in laws, a little stitching project (if you have one or are that way inclined – it appears I am the only one who does not/isn’t), PLENTY of champagne, good food, advice, conversations, tears and much, MUCH laughter and you have the recipe for a FABULOUS time away for all the females in my immediate family. No husbands. No children. Oh, it was good.

This time around we were in the magnificent Kangaroo Valley. I have never been there and couldn’t believe how beautiful it was. I will be going back there for sure.

Champagne was drank. As was white wine. Red wine. Tea. Coffee. And champagne.

There was a fire going all weekend.
And much sewing by the (other) ladies…
But mostly eating. And drinking.
Even my big sister from came up from Melbourne for the occasion. She stitched a lot. You can see by this shot what I did a lot of. Drink champagne.
My Mum cooked THE most magnificent dinner of pork belly with braised red cabbage. And yes, it was as good as it looks.
There were even card readings by my Mum (or as she called herself Sidekick Sue) from her messages from Angels pack she had picked up. The angels had very strange names though…and their messages were a little mixed up. But hilarious.
Even my little sis knitted. She let me do a few rows…and I didn’t even drop a stitch!
It was pretty. Amazing.

  1. Wow.

Three things: I’ve always wanted to go to Kangaroo Valley – and I’m pretty sure that’s the house I always wanted to stay in…

How unreal are you! Most people {well, me} would feel obligated to take up some kind of stitchery – but you’re happy just to continue to develop your champagne drinking skills. A worthy cause.

Can I adopt your mum? That meal looked like my ideal pork belly dish – and if you said it tasted as good as it looked, well, I’m amazed you’re still here to write as you should have melted into a puddle of bliss.

It all sounds perfect – glad you enjoyed x

  2. It looks beautiful – a girl after my own heart – I’m taking that champagne 101 class too!

  3. What an awesome thing to do!

That pork belly looks amazing! Am getting hungry now…

  4. That looks fabulous … what a spot! xx
