We arrived up at EIEIO on boxing day for 10 glorious and relaxing days. Alan has just put in THE pool and we felt like we were at some fantastic resort. Daisy took to the pool and after the first time in she loved it. The swimming was great as she was exhausted by the end of the day and slept at night (every night) from about 6.30pm to 7am (and even made it to 8am on New Years Day!). Rob’s brother and wife and the kids also came for 3 days and we spent New Years Eve together.
Each day was spent reading, eating, swimming and drinking which was very relaxing. Alan and Sue had a few visitors along the way as well so it was great to catch up with everyone. It is so beautiful up there I feel so lucky that we have somewhere like to go to whenever we want.
I can’t believe that it is now 2008. Daisy will be 1 next month. That I can’t get my head around. She has grown up so much over the time we had with her and she just loved to spend day in and day out with her Mum and Dad and doting grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins. She is still not crawling but is desperately trying to. She looks down at her legs and just whines at them willing them to move. It’s hard not to be able to get her to do it – the first of many frustrations as a parent I am sure! She is speaking well – her word for dog sounds remarkably like Dadda though – and she is eating like a little farm animal. She has been devouring whole pieces of fruit at rapid rates and just loves to bite into a peach or nectarine like a big person.
We got back on Saturday night and had a day on Sunday to recover, unpack, wash and put away the Christmas stuff. Yesterday was our first day back at work for all of us (Daise was back at daycare) and we were all dreading it. She had a GREAT day there though and was happy as can be when she got home. That was a huge relief for both of us as we were dreading it and felt awful that she had to go. Such is life I guess. I hope that the year ahead if full of many more happy times and I am certain that it will be. While it won’t be as significant as 2007 (no new babies and house buying) I hope that we all stay safe and healthy and the happiness will follow! Happy New Year to you all!
So thrilled to read all your news. Your little family are a great marketing tool for life in Australia. I am so jealous of all that sunshine! I can’t wait to get my hands on little Daisy for a cuddle and I look forward to the day when we can share a glass of wine and a good gossip face to face. Here’s to a wonderful 2008. All our love, Kate, Simes and Maddie xxx
