A weekend at The Woods Farm

I was thrilled a few months ago now to be contacted by the good people at The Woods Farm in Jervis Bay asking if we’d like to come and stay with them for a few nights – who wouldn’t?! And one look at their website and Instagram and I was sold. Cute, quirky accomodation that the girls would LOVE nestled in one of the prettiest parts of the country less than 90 mins from our home? UM, DER.

The place can be described as a cool camping ground – even like a fancy arse caravan park except with 8 x 3 bedroom cottages (we stayed in The Greenhouse) that are all decorated beautifully. They are luxury with all you’d expect from a fancy hotel, but with a cool country edge. There are huge TV’s with foxtel, fully equipped kitchens, fire pits and swings out the front and they are all far enough away from each other that you don’t feel cramped. There are also glamping tents available in a big communal area (there are also clamping tents attached to your cottage that you can hire for an extra $150 a night) and these are luxury too – beds, rugs, chairs, gorgeous interiors.

I think the thing that sets this place apart is the attention to detail, the hygge of the place that makes it feel like home. Nothing has been missed here – think comfort plus with loads of cushions and throws, books, games, it just feels like you have visited a friend in the country that wants to look after you and in these type of places: almost impossible to achieve. But they have done it! And in spades.

You can self cater (I was slack and didn’t bring much with me but there was an IGA literally a 2 minute drive away in St Georges Basin to keep hungry children happy. We also ate out close by in Huskisson and there’s lots in the area all within 15 minutes drive.

Head outside of the cottages though and that’s where the real magic of this place lies. Potager gardens (that you can help yourself to), playgrounds, Pizza oven (ready for you to use) pool, farm animals, chill out area, bikes, games, you name it ready for you to soak up and have fun with. The girls LOVED this (all ages of 11, 9 and 3 were delighted)

The attention to detail and desire to inspire magic and creativity is everywhere. I think it’s what I loved most about this place. They host a lot of weddings too…and you can see why!

Rob and I were trying to work out how we can have a party here to enjoy these surroundings! Maybe a 20th wedding anniversary in a few years time!

The farm animals were a real highlight for my animal lovers with feeding at 9am every morning and the chance to go and visit them whenever you liked. Maggie LOVED the baby goats and chickens, she was well and truly in her element here.

We collected eggs from the chooks for breakfast, we swam, we walked and explored, the kids were free to roam around and we will most definitely be back! I can’t wait to get back here with all our friends and families…if you had a big group you could book out the cottages and enjoy the place while the kids did their own thing. It would also work for our big family maybe for a Christmas down the track when we need to find somewhere for the 20 of us…having your own cottage to escape to for down time and sleeping at night is such a bonus (we have done lots of trips with big groups and this much I know is TRUE).

On Sunday we fed the animals and then escaped to Hyams Beach which truly is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world world. You have to see it to believe just how special it is, and it’s just a 15 minute drive away.

Thank you so much to The Woods Farm for hosting us for the weekend – we will be back! The girls (and Rob and I) loved it!

You can check out all the details on their website here.
