How to host your own Royal Wedding Party!

The big day is FAST approaching my friends and I have had an email from a reader saying that she wanted to host her own Royal Wedding Party but didn’t know where to start. Thought I better help a sister out!

As you’d (hopefully) know, the big day where Meghan and Haz will tie the knot is Saturday 19th May which over here will be at about 9pm AEST. This practically BEGS for a party because: Saturday night! Channel 9 will be rolling coverage from 7pm (with Karl Stefanovic & Georgie Gardener hosting). The ABC will also be offering rolling coverage from 7.30pm hosted by Annabel Crabb and Jeremy Fernandez live from London. Channel 7 will also have coverage from Melissa Doyle and Seven News anchor Michael Usher live from Windsor Castle from 7pm. On Foxtel there will be rolling live coverage available on UKTV, HBO and E!

And you know, I’ll BE REPORTING LIVE FROM WINDSOR. So make sure you follow along on all of my channels.

The wedding isn’t until 9pm and the carriage procession will be at 10pm (so like an election night, it’s going to drag on a little).

There’s NOTHING like a Royal Wedding and I think it’s the perfect excuse to get your girlfriends together. Check out the invitations my mate Nicki from Cottonwood & Co sent out to everyone overnight!

Have you ever?! That is going to be one fun night and I will be sorry to miss it!

As you’d remember from this post, Royal weddings have always had a place in my heart. All that pomp & ceremony! The frocks!

We hosted one down here when Kate & Wills were married in 2011…check out little Daisy in her best Princess ensemble!

It was pretty basic: lots of English inspired food and drink and mostly just sitting around watching the telly and commenting on ALL the things.

So what could you do to host your own party on the 19th? Here are some suggestions for you:

  1. Get yourself onto Pinterest STAT

Look up English themed parties and scroll for inspiration on what to eat and drink and how to decorate. There’s endless things on there!

2. Focus on an English theme for Food & Drink

Think High tea with cucumber sandwiches, Union Jack coloured fruit platters, fish and chips, scones, Pimms, tea pots filled with Gin & Tonic…go for it!

3. Have a TV on and make sure everyone can see it and be comfy watching it
4. Play some games. There are Bingo cards filled with phrases that you can do drinking games with
5. Dress up and have fun!

Why not wear your wedding dresses or get Vinnies or the Salvos to buy a dodgy dress and have some fun with that.

And make sure you check out what I am doing on the ground at Windsor. I can’t be sure of any exclusives but I CAN assure you will be a blast and I will have LOTS of stories to share. Follow along with the hashtag #babymacsroyaladventure and be sure to take some photos if you do as I’m going to have an exciting upcoming giveaway coming up that you will NOT want to miss out on!

I must admit Beth, us Brits can really “do” Pomp and Circumstance better than anybody else I feel!! Enjoy my lovely,it’s going to be Amazing. Xx

  2. I just love the BYO grog on the invite – the perfect finishing touch!

  3. Cannot wait!

  4. Scones, crumpets, tea, and Sipsmith London cup on our menu! I have to say that I feel Harry & Megs have robbed us of a public holiday here in the UK by choosing a Saturday for the wedding though…

  5. Forget about Georgie, Melissa and Annabel – yours is the coverage I’m most looking forward to. Have a blast, you deserve it for all your hard work!
