Luxury Couple Accomodation wish list: NSW

I recently had one of my friends contact me about wanting to book somewhere special for a 40th birthday weekend away this year. She thought I might know some good places to stay and asked for a list of of the best luxury couple accomodation in NSW.

If there’s one thing I LOVE it’s a high-end adults only weekend away. I LOVE planning them, I love trawling through websites looking for THE perfect place and I LOVE booking them and having something to look forward to. And then of course I LOVE it when I am experiencing them! I mean, what’s better than having some travel to look forward to? It certainly helps with back to school-work blues that can hit this time of year. Plus we are really slack at date nights and tend to cash in a night away if we can (or as we were lucky enough last year a BIG trip to NY and a cheeky work trip to Honkers).

Now her request was looking for somewhere close(ish) to Sydney as they have 4 kids and needed to be able to escape quickly and not be too far away. They wanted somewhere they could drive to, somewhere to eat, and to be pampered. So with the challenge given I set off and this is what I came up….in NSW of course as they are based in Sydney.

I thought you might like to have a look in case you wanted to plan a weekend or special trip away with someone that YOU love. It’s nice to dream at least right?

Central Coast & South Coast & North Coast

Bells at Killcare

We haven’t stayed here (as a couple) but I have enjoyed a visit here a few times with my sister wife Nikki where we had a spa treatment a number of years ago as well as apertivo hour recently.

Pretty Beach House (Central Coast)

This place is HIGH HIGH END. Fancy pants but apparently worth every cent (of which there will be MANY spent). It’s all inclusive which means EVERYTHING is covered (all alcohol and food) and there is a great spa too. Looks amazing!

Bannisters (Mollymook)

I have visited this place before but never had the chance to stay. I do love this part of the world though – Mollymook is gorgeous and this little resort is nestled into the headland with a GREAt restaurant (Rick Bannisters).

Kim’s Toowoon Bay

Haven’t ever stayed here but have heard great things about this place right on the beach surrounded by forest just an hour north of Sydney.

Mt Hay Luxury Retreat Berry

Rob and I stayed here and loved this slice of paradise. Amazing views! A bath on the deck that takes in the views it’s gorgeous.

Paperbark Camp Jervis Bay

Now this is a place definitely on my wishlist having trawled and followed them on Instagram for many a year. Looks like THE perfect place to completely unwind and escape the world. Yes please!

The following two are not really an easy drive away but still in NSW.

Rae’s on Wategos (Byron Bay)

An exclusive beachside retreat that is always filled with beautiful people because it is beautiful. I have walked past but again through Instagram trawling have long wanted to be a guest myself.

Halcyon House (Cabarita Beach Northern NSW)

I WILL get here one day, oh yes I will. Just to soak up the sheer beauty of the interiors and pillow chopping that appears to go on at this place.

Mountains

Mount Tomah Getaway

Rob and I stayed here for our 10th wedding anniversary when I was preggers with Maggie which we found through my brother and sister in law who have stayed here a few times. It’s a perfect escape for the winter, sit by the fire and do NOTHING. You will have to take food with you though as there really isn’t anything much nearby. Bring supplies and pack DOWN. Such a gorgeous bath too.

One & Only Wolgan Valley

Oh how I have wanted to stay here…budget has never allowed us to but there’s no harm in dreaming. Looks AMAZING. I think that this one is also inclusive as well which means you don’t have to pay for anything when you are there (which you wouldn’t given the amount you fork out!!)

Country/Highlands

Goonoo Goonoo Station (Timbumburi)

Another favourite of mine to stalk on Instagram I would love to get here one day and take in this magnificent renovation. One of my best mates recently visited again and was RAVING about it. Looks amazing and I WILL get there one day!

Bendooley Estate (Berrima Southern Highlands)

Cannot wait to check out these BRAND new cottages that have been opened up on the estate that would be the perfect weekend escape. Hello WINERY! One, two and three bedroom options with SUPERIOR interiors well worth looking at.

Milton Park (Bowral)

Have never stayed here but have eaten High Tea and the gardens are SPECTACULAR. Rooms look pretty good too – could be the perfect base to explore the Highlands.

Berida Hotel (Bowral)

I haven’t had a chance to check out the rooms at this place but it looks great from what I have seen. There is a spa here too and an amazing restaurant next door (Bistro Officina) which is truly FABULOUS. This place used to be the most garish Fawlty Towers place you have ever seen…but has emerged into a cool boutique hotel.

City

QT Hotel (Sydney CBD)

Love this place whenever I stay in the city as it just feels ALIVE and cool and like you are in the city you know? Great interiors, restaurants and bars to drink at and amazing beds to collapse into afterwards. Great fun and a taste of NYC at home.

So that was my list…I know there would be LOTS of places that I missed but it’s what came to mind straight away. These are special places…with price tags to match a lot of the time. My other suggestions would be to look at STAYZ or AirBnB for cottages that will be much cheaper. Websites similar to Mr & Mrs Smith always have their fingers on the pulse of what is cool and we use this site a lot for travel all around the world.

So tell me what I am missing…what’s your special place in NSW?
Got any hidden secrets you’d care to share or that I should add in?
Where’s your next holiday or break planned to?

Comments

  1. This year, we celebrate my sister’s 30th and my Mum’s 60th and I think a girls weekend away is just what the doctor ordered. Off to start planning something special.

  2. The Langham in Sydney – well any Langham really, is amazing. From the time you walk in the door – well from the minute you drive up and the car door is opened for you and your car unloaded by the staff, it’s just wonderful. Peaceful, very opulent, the staff are so friendly and provide THE best service, it’s wonderful. You’re in Sydney so easy to catch a cab to the shops or the harbour, but really we didn’t even want to leave the hotel. The rooms are luxurious, there’s a place in the hotel for your spa treatments, the restaurant is great and there’s plenty of room to sit around and chat and have a drink in the beautiful stunning lounge areas. You have to experience that level of luxury just once. I’ve told my husband that when I’m an old lady I’m going to take a room on the top floor and live there, piercing on all the gorgeous young staff – how is it they are all so gorgeous? They wear suits too, so that helps! I stayed in the Berida Hotel when my husband was in hospital a couple of years ago and you’re right – Fawlty Towers all the way, though I have to say, the staff were lovely.

  3. We stayed at Paperbark for our Babymoon in 2013. You should definitely get there, Beth!

  4. Mt Hay Retreat in Berry. Couples only very private retreat and Berry itself has some really nice restaurants and cafes

  5. Hey Beth

We have stayed at Paperbark! It was lovely although it was very rushed. AND I don’t advise going on the very last day they are open before their winter shutdown it is bloody freezing! It was gorgeous and so nice to stay there, in hindsight I wish we had organised things so it wasn’t as rushed as it was. But we had a voucher we needed to use up that we had already extended a few times.
Truly though it was heavenly and would have been even more heavenly with better planning on our part.

  6. Promised Land Retreat near Bellingen is amazing 😊

  7. Jonah’s at Whale Beach was absolutely fab

  8. Totally bookmarking this for our next love weekend – next weekend we’ve booked a gorgeous AirBnB in Kangaroo Valley for our anniversary. Will report back!
