One of my mates on Instagram yesterday commented that she can’t remember seeing me as chilled out as I have been on this trip and I think she may be right. I’ve been so happy all the family together (while trips OS to NY certainly are special to me so long as we are all together I am happiest). While Rob hasn’t been here the past few days it’s still been so nice to have the girls spend time with their cousins and for me, my beautiful big sister who does it all by herself, she really is an inspiration.
Yesterday she took the big kids to the movies so I could get some work done and Mags could get a decent day time sleep and then in the afternoon we headed into town to take a (slow) spin on Melbourne Star.
What a perfect afternoon Melbs turned on for us…picture perfect.
Ice creams afterwards and then some burgers for dinner and then a screening of Goonies…can’t believe that the Victorian cousins hadn’t seen it yet! Early to bed before packing up this morning and heading off.
Last stop? A visit to Brutown of course! Had to catch one of Ruthie’s coffees and was so excited that I could take the girls with me. And of course it took all of 3.4 seconds to have them fit in with her gorgeous boys…all 5 of them home…it was an absolute joy to just be in their warm home packed to the gills with hygge…there’s nowhere I would rather be than at that kitchen bench with noise and colour and love and music all around. There’s NOTHING like it. Nothing!
I always love a spy in her studio too. Those ceramic headpieces are GLORIOUS.
And then we just hung, drank coffee and hot chocs and chatted about all kinds of stuff. You know when you just work? Friends and kids? It’s the best.
Superior emergency vehicles an added extra.
And scalextrics car racing tracks on the dining table an added extra for my girls.
And doting boys too!
Gosh it’s been a good week…a week already! Home tomorrow to our own boys who we miss. All our hearts and minds filled with so many good memories. Now time for me to finish some thimbles of wine before another trip home in the morning. We’e got our room service orders in for a 7am delivery…dreams really do come true in Albury!
Thanks for following along and for all the great memories Victoria, you have been FABULOUS. Sometimes the simple things really are the very best x
I love reading about your travels especially to my home town, Melbs. I love following Ruth on IG & FB so it was cool that you have such an amazing connection with her & her fabulous family. Everything you did on this trip was so familiar to me as I have family in Ballarat & I have spent many a girls weekend with my sisters in Daylesford having a lot of fun. Safe travels home tomorrow. There’s no place like home ?. X
Agree – we all do! It’s very good to be home x
