Things I like {the 6th August 2015 edition}

I’ll tell you what I’m liking! A brand spanking new Canon EOS750D that landed in my hot little chubby hands this week thankyouverymuch. I’ve got it for a month and can’t wait to have a play around with it. I’m no professional…I went to one photography course a few years ago and are pretty much self taught since, but I do love to take photos and manage to take many every single day so I have plenty of practice!

I tell you what else I’m loving…some SUNSHINE without an arctic gale force wind blowing which has been the case all this week. It’s been entirely too cold for anything other than sitting by the fire with a cup of something hot in my hand and my slippers on. Dead set I cannot wait for the Spring when I might be inclined to take Maggie out into the great outdoors and start to get the blood pumping again. Until then, tea and cake it is.

I’ve been sitting in our sun trap of a verandah that gets the northerly sunshine all day long.

And while it’s been a dangerous activity with the wind whipping around at some ridiculous speed, I’ve been washing because it just never bloody ends.

You can see why I’d prefer to be inside instead.

The garden is having a flurry of activity with all the hellebores starting to flower and both of my beautiful HUGE Daphne bushes bursting into the sweetest smelling flower. I’ve got it everywhere throughout the house.

I’ve got a photoshoot next week with a local magazine so I have been running around trying to get things sorted and finishing off projects that I never quite got around to finishing since we moved in. There will be a huge cleaning day early next week and plenty of time in the garden (which looks so dreary generally). Nothing like a deadline to get you moving is there?

We’ll be spending the weekend at local sport and cleaning up the garden and house for next week and a quick trip to Sydney on Sunday for my beautiful Dad’s 70th Birthday. I so remember my grandparents being 70 when I was young and thinking that was SO old. And yet now it’s my parents and it doesn’t seem old at all. How did we all get here so quickly?

What are you up to on the weekend?
What are you liking this Friday? The fact that it’s Friday? Me too!
Happy weekend friends x

Canon Australia have lent me the camera in line with the Global Ogilvy Blogger code of ethics which can be found here.

  1. Daphne not jasmine!! That is what I meant to write yesterday – mum had a garden full of it in NZ. My son saw the photos as I was reading this and say, in his cute accent, “that’s a lovely house”. He has taste! Have a great weekend Beth x

  2. ooh, is is Highlife? place looks lovely Beth.

  3. How exciting to be having your lovely home featured in a magazine. Weekend sport for us here (three games of soccer) and the thing I am most looking forward to is high tea for my friends 40th with a bunch of girls. Then we are going for cocktails afterwards. Its the one thing that has kept me going this week. I have hit that unmotivated, winter slump. Although we did have snow in our yard this week at sea level! School was closed and we got a snow day which was very exciting as it never happens. Hobart and south of where we live was covered in a blanket of snow and looked beautiful. Enjoy the weekend.

  4. You clearly have a creative eye which is why your home is so visually captivating so the camera won’t be wasted on you – duck to water. & I’m feeling the cold too – ive been calling the sunshine but it’s not answering my requests.

  5. I’m loving that today almost feels like Spring. The sun is out and there is only a slight breeze for a change. The new flooring installation starts on Monday and the fencing has been started for the Ewes that we have purchased. Happy days!

    Have a good weekend! Mrs D x

  6. I adore these photos, just beautiful. We live near the beach and my Daphne is looking decidedly sad..I just can’t get it happening. Have a lovely weekend with your beautiful family, especially Harper who I think has the most beautiful photogenic face ever..she should be on TV with that gorgeous smile. ?x

  7. How good is a baby, the couch, some cake, and a cup of tea.
Poor Lyddie…sometimes I feel like I force her to feed just so I can sit down and relax for a bit (and maybe watch some OITNB).
