Monday meal ideas: simmering stove tops

After a long weekend in the sun and actual WARMTH it has been quite the rude shock to come back to the Highlands to a howling biting wind and a temperature at the moment (10am) of 1 degree. Brrrrr! Looks like it’s going to be freezing all week too so I’m looking for recipes that will bubble away on the stove top, warm our insides and make the house smell and feel warm and delicious.

Here are a few recipes to get the inspiration juices flowing…you’ll feel warmer looking at the picture at least!

Asian minced chicken
Braised beef in beer
Beef & vegetable casserole
Chicken cacciatore

I hope you stay warm this week wherever you are…it’s been a cold winter hasn’t it? I plan on lots of time at home bunkering down with Maggie and a quick side road trip tomorrow up to the Blue Mountains to see a beautiful friend. Can’t wait!

I am ALL over these…. I am having knee surgery Friday so at least two of these will be finding their way to the freezer before then – to feed the family while I am out of action… Thanks for sharing!

  2. I’m in the Blue Mountains! It’s cold here too at the moment. And windy. Hope you have a great time 🙂

  4. I’m in Hawaii and it’s stinking hot. We have been away 5 weeks and missed the cold, thank goodness. I hate winter. Stay warm all you peeps.

  5. Delish. Just made the chicken mince and mixed in pork mince and sesame oil too. This will go on rotation, hope it survives the freezer for when bubs comes in a few weeks!
