Taronga Zoo Snore & Roar

Last night Daisy and I had the absolute pleasure of spending the night at Taronga Zoo. Mrs Woog had 2 spare spots (thanks Mr W and Haz) so it took all of 3.4 seconds to lock in that me and my number one gal would fill them. Daisy had been counting down the weeks, days, hours and with no sign of the dreaded gastro rearing its ugly head, we trotted off to beautiful Mosman on a picture perfect summer December evening.

There was so much to look forward to – lions and tigers and bears – oh my! And for me, a chance to spend some one on one time with Daisy which is very rare indeed. Harps and I spend a WHOLE lot of time together, so it was just such a joy to have a chat, catch up and of course bribe her into still giving me the odd kiss and cuddle.

The camping situation was just how I like it. Barely camping at all! But enough to convince Daisy that this WAS camping. There were beds and linen and champagne! And the most stunning Sydney sunset to watch unfold before us, all while listening to the animals around us….such a magic experience.

We had a few visitors join us for drinks before we headed off for dinner and our night time walks.

After dinner we got to walk around some of the exhibits and check out the animals. We saw tigers having some (baby chick!) after dinner mints. Daisy and Jack were beside themselves…and I must say I was acting as much like a kid as well….I kept saying HOW COOL. We managed to convince the kids that the tour was over early at 10.30 as they were nearly asleep standing up and we all crashed looking out at the best view in the world through the fly screen of our tents.

Just when you thought things couldn’t get prettier we woke to this.

And then got to walk through the zoo…with the place to ourselves! The animals were awake. They were magnificent. And it was an absolute pleasure to see them up close and personal.

I won’t ever forget this little sleepover Daise and I had. The time together. The magic of the animals and the zoo. ย A perfect little getaway that makes even the oldest person feel like a kid all over again. Thanks for having us Mrs W x

You can find out more about it here.

Have you ever done a sleepover at a zoo before?

  1. Can I just congratulate Daisy on her accessorising. If she needs a summer job, you know where to send her x

Looks great. Special time with yr big girl is fab too. Our local zoo (yes there is one down the road) has mountain views. With snow in winter. Love that view though

  3. Your pics make it look even more awesome. I think Melbs do the same to. Definetely on the list.

  4. Love, love, love… we must do this… long, long, long overdue… on the list for 2014.

  5. Roar and Snore was my 40th Birthday present 3 years ago from my husband. It lived up to all my expectations and more. Getting up close and personal to the giraffes was a highlight. And ‘glamping’ I can handle.

This looks wonderful! I know what my kids will be getting for their birthday!! I hope the Melbourne one is as good the Sydney one looked!!

  7. Looks amazing! Perth Zoo doesn’t have anything like this, however next time we go to Sydney, this will be on the list!

  8. How wonderful! I can’t wait until I can take my kids ๐Ÿ™‚

What a delightfully wonderful experience for you both. Daisy is so lovely (as is her mum).
Thank you so much for sharing your zoo visit with us. That lioness is magnificent and is posing so nicely to have her picture taken. I am not sure if Perth Zoo puts on this type of entertainment but alas, I am too old now to take part anyway. Need my own bed these days.

  10. So besides the uber coolness factor of spending the night at the zoo…Daisy has the EXACT SAME SCARF AS ME! I can retire now, a happy wannabe fashionista. Thanks, Daise. xx

  11. Wow that looks amazing! I actually think Mr Smaggle would really love to do that. ๐Ÿ™‚

There were lots of couples there…apparently they can get quite into it all too – from speaking with the rangers!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

What a cool idea! We are in Sydney over New Years, but something like this will no doubt be wasted on our 18mo. Something to consider for the future though! Gorgeous photos too, thanks for sharing. I just read your interview over at bloggersbazzar.com.au so I was impressed to see you still share images of your family.
