Weekending

This weekend we headed up the coast a few hours to a rented beach house for the weekend with Rob’s family. It was his brother’s 40th and we spent the weekend with his family, soaking up time together, sitting around laughing and chatting and eating and drinking in that sea salty air which we were lucky enough to have on our doorstep.

There was time at the beach. Time with cousins. Time playing Jenga. Time spent with a brand new 5 week old baby. Time frocking up for a party. And time just hanging. It was perfect.

I went to our local hall (no fancy stuff here, just corrugated iron) to watch a production by our Little Theatre Group. The hall was packed to over-flowing and the atmosphere was so friendly. The four one-act plays were applauded loudly and rightly so. The local school provided supper with all ingredients grown and prepared from and in their Stephanie Alexander Garden and Kitchen.

  6. I caught my breath, slept and hung out with my fam. PS. Looking HAWT Ms Beth x

  8. I’m sure your kids will remember their cousin time fondly. Having fun with cousins is one thing I vividly remember from my childhood. Great times! I recently reconnected with a cousin after our lives had led us n different directions. It was like no time had passed. We had such fun. I wrote one of my blog posts about it if you’ve got time for a cup of tea, glass of wine and a short read ….

Gorgeous post Elizabeth…I feel exactly the same about my own childhood with my cousins. I am insistent that my girls get the same and so far we are doing pretty well!

  9. Usual weekend stuff plus a bonus concert on Sunday afternoon at my daughters school. Tenzin Choegel, Tibetan musician extraordinaire was in town (Bega) to do a fundraiser for the kids in Tibet, from the school/village where he grew up. It was a beautiful concert performed by a most beautiful and talented person. Amazing, I am still on a high!

  10. I love local getaways. We did just that with another couple (and our puppy) a couple of weeks ago. It was the best! Walking on the beach, wine tasting, long lunches. So relaxing.
