Weekending

We had one of those perfect weekends. You can’t plan them, because if you did they would never work out. Saturday was one of those weekend days that I remember so well from my own childhood: staying in your sports uniform all day, playing in the garden with my sister all day long…Rob and I got stuck into the garden in a big way, and the garage, I even went to the tip and if there’s a better therapy than that, I’d love to know what it is.

The weather was postcard perfect. Warm, clear days and cool nights.

The veggie patch (little but manageable) was planted at last. Rob and I even managed a last-minute date night where we had a great dinner and celebrated his Birthday and my Mothers Day.

Speaking of Mothers Day – have a look at the present I scored! It’s an old fire extinguisher. Not only is it fabulous, but as Rob said to me, it’s symbolic of all the fires I am always putting out between the girls. I couldn’t have picked a better present myself I don’t think. I adore it.

Don’t you love it when you get one of those productive weekends? When time slows down and you really just enjoy it?
How was your Mother’s Day? What did you score?

The fire extinguisher is fabulous but your tale of an idyllic weekend is lovely. Ours was similar in that the pace of life slowed right down… I think its the late summer weather!

  2. The Bean is still in my belly, but kindly gave me big fat hobbit feet for the day! Still better than an Andre Rieu CD…

The fire extinguisher looks fabulous! I love veggie patches so rewarding! It was my first wedding anniversary on Mother’s Day so we shared it! Lovely day it was!

    Steph 🙂

I am so there with the tip therapy- My Mum and I often say that the best day is when we get to go to the tip, clear out the wardrobe and do a load to the Salvos bin, vacuum the car and empty all the rubbish bins in the house. Cheap thrills!
    Sad really. I know!

Love the fire extinguisher. Gorgeous. We have the nozzle to an old fire hose and it has pride of place on one of my many “stuff” surfaces. Chilly down here today with snow forecast this week. I of course planted winter vegies on the weekend so fingers crossed that they will survive!

    • I think a change is due here tomorrow too…tops of 12 for the rest of the week. We can’t complain though, the weather has been spectacular for this time of year! Stay warm x

My mothers day was a bit busy but nice and I scored some new PJs,a slowcooker a Jamie Oliver “I love you Loads “Mug and some chocs and 2 pedi vouchers one for me and one for my daughter, cheeky minx and some beautiful Birds of Paradise flowers and money and a card from my son x

  7. I scored a new handbag, and my son chose me a blingy bracelet from the Mother’s Day stall at school. He said he chose it because his mum loves diamonds! He’s right on the money there!
Plus a few heart melting hand made cards, love those the most!

I got a child care made piggy bank…which I know I am supposed to cherish but it is not awesome a) because Toddler C doesn’t get that it is not his and b) it means he is already constantly asking me for money!
Daddy R also taught Toddler C to say, “I love mommy, for SURE!” It is about the cutest thing I have ever heard and my heart melts a little bit each time he says it.

My sleep in ended at 7.30 with 9yo jumping in bed and 3 yo rattling the baby gate saying mum, mum. Beloved hubby sheepishly apologised and cooked pancakes which daughter and I ate in bed with 3yo stlll rattling the baby gate saying mum, mum.
Rest of the day was then spent doing the worsest, hardest assignment of my life.
My present for Mothers Day was my 9yo finally peddling on a push bike! ..we are still holding the bike upright for her but at least she is peddling 🙂

  10. Perfect present. love it!! x

After initial grand plans of three big veggie patch beds I’m thinking the same as you: start off small and ‘grow’ from there (boom tish). Manageable, yes yes. At this stage, ‘manageable’ is a pot of mixed herbs…
My sister has a beautiful brass fire extinguisher which was her husband’s great-great-uncle’s or something as a firefighter in London eons ago, it looks very similar to yours only brass not red. Very cool. They also have cool old pharmacy bottles with big glass stoppers and faded paper labels that say ‘Lister’ (their surname) as down the family tree somewhere a pharmacist great-great-uncle/grandfather patented Listerine. Love old family history like that!
