On the line

Is it just me or do you sometimes marvel at the beauty of washing hanging in the sunshine on a perfect Autumn day? The simplicity. The colours. The joy? Me neither.

But, just in case there might be some people that really like it, and actually like it so much that they would take a picture of it, I thought this blog post might fill that niche blogging audience market. I mean as IF I would do that. SO boring!

Check out my new napkins that arrived from the Temple & Webster sale on Aura by Tracie Ellis. Aren’t they a bit special? I do love myself a proper linen napkin and these great colours and patterns are going to look great at our table. Plus, I like to use the word napery as often as possible as this gives me another reason to do so.

On Monday this week I took the girls into town to get a pair of winter shoes each. All of a sudden Daisy had grown out of every single shoe she owns except her School shoes so we trotted off to the proper shoe shop where you sit up the back of the shop, up the steps just like I used to when I was a little girl. Even better was that Harper’s were free because of a loyalty rewards program they have at the shop. Afterwards we were walking to a cafe for some morning tea when I spotted a fabulous frock in a kid’s shop. I figured because Harper’s shoes were free, that I could get the dresses and it would all kind of balance out. Right? Notsomuch. BUT! Check out how fabulous these simple jersey dresses are. The colours amazing and they will be worn all through the year here because they are so lightweight. It’s the closest I will get to dressing my kids in the same clothes. Afterwards when we were sitting in a booth at the cafe, eating some cake and looking at our new shoes and frocks I remembered some of my very favourite childhood memories with my own Mum doing exactly the same thing after a shopping expedition. Except the babycino would have been a strawberry milkshake and the cake would have been an egg sambo cut in quarters with a little fancy curly parsley. Just the way I still like it.

If this weather keeps up there will be some more washing this weekend, some gardening and hopefully a little entertaining to get those napkins on the table. Hope you have a great one too!

Meanwhile not one, NOT ONE piece of washing goes on the line at the Fuchsiadome because I shove every single thing into the dryer. Even cashmere. Time saving being one of my special areas of interest.

Your fabrics are very Jonathon Adler meets Anna Spiro. Nice combo. x

  9. And another thing. I went to this fashion thing at Jean Brown the other day and apparently at the Paris Collections everything was mixed print and crazy colours so little Harper is Right on Track in a Directional Sense.

    Good.

    I know you’ll be relieved.

    • I will let her know. And I am just grateful that someone knows the effort and lengths I go to to ensure that my children are right on track in a directional sense! x
