I still don’t know what my fucking Easter Tablescape is

All of a sudden it’s the Wednesday before the end of term and 2 days before the long weekend begins. Isn’t it still the 14th January? Seriously? This morning I am hitting the shops to stock up on food because people the SHOPS WILL BE CLOSED FOR ONE WHOLE DAY ON FRIDAY DON’T YOU KNOW? Last year I went on Thursday with every other grey bobbed, puffer vested woman in town and  vowed I wouldn’t make that mistake again so this morning it is. Eggs. Hot Cross Buns. Champagne. Food, lots of food.
We have just my Mum and beautiful Step Dad coming down for the weekend and even then, they are leaving Sunday morning so there’s no big, long lunch here. I’m a little sad about that, but only just a little bit because I think we will go and eat somewhere else and have someone else do all the hard work for me! I can’t wait for the break, the not getting up and making lunch, or going to anything after School. Yes, the only extra curricular activities I shall be partaking in is an early wine time and perhaps some reading.
Yesterday Harps and I went and found some sticks to chuck in a jug to hang some eggs off. Yes, that will have to do just fine…

  1. That is a very cute idea… and staying away from the Shops tomorrow sounds even better!
Good luck – I will be one of the puffer vested folk tomorrow – babysitting today it seems… Enjoy your ‘break’ – surely someone knows this is NO holiday – really…

  2. Thank God you reminded me to go a day early! Thursday is my usual grocery day but there is no chance I will be doing that this week. Love the eggs too, must get some decos up – even if we are doing the Sunday lunch things at the grandparents house. Hooray for no cooking and early wine time!!!

  3. Oh yes, the thursday is horrific and I said last year I would not venture out. So I guess I am off to the shops today. Love the colour of your jug and the idea of hanging eggs. very nice.

  4. I am loving your sticks chucked in a jug with eggs hanging of them. Where are the eggs from? My Mrs Boss has headed off to ‘town’ (three and half hours away, we’re in outback western Qld) to stock up for Easter and avoid the craziness of Thursday hopefully. You may not have an Easter tablescape (lol) but I am missing not having a home to even have the option of have an Easter tablescape! Grass is always greener and all that…Have a hopping good time xx

    • I got them last year from Bed Bath Table – I bet they have 50% off decos at the moment if you can get to one of those shops – they have SUCH good decorations at Christmas and Easter. Have a great Easter! x

  5. whatdoyamean its not jan anymore?!?! where has this year gone – seriously, am totally feeling this vibe!
cool eggs and stigs though! Why does everyone panic when there is a public holiday and the shops are closed for ONE day?!
    have a great weekend xx

  6. Miss Cakes says

What a gorgeous easter decoration! But at least you sound rpepared…we are off camping tomorrow and I an not even vaguely packed or ready – bugger…go you!

  7. I love those eggs – or even moreso, the jug.

I’m living dangerously – going to go on Thursday AFTER work even.
    Hardcore.
But I don’t give a crap, ’cause on Friday we’re escaping to go camping (with every other family in the region!) and I’m not being the dutiful wife, Mum, daughter, daughter in law, friend, neighbour anything for four days.

Here’s to Easter on slow play.
    🙂 xx

  8. Got to watch out for those grey bobs. Happy Easter babymac family.

  9. Your egg tree looks great. I lived in the Netherlands for a while back in the day and they really embrace Easter decorating, so it’s great to see Oz getting on board now.Have a lovely weekend!

  10. Yep, this is about the extent of my ‘doing’ Easter a well. Your vase is far superior to my vase, though… x

  11. Looks fab Beth! I don’t have to worry about Easter as we are always away, phew!
    Have a great one x

  14. Oh I am loving your Easter decoration lady, really really pretty. And don’t worry about the tablescape, it sounds like you’ve got everything else well and truly under control. Enjoy it! xoxo

  15. Love the eggs on a stick may have to steal that one! x

  16. we made our own…

Well my husband and The Damn Emos did… I just sat on the lounge drinking wine and screaming at them to not get paint on the floor.

  17. Sounds pretty damn perfect to me…especially the reading part x

  18. Looks gorgeous Beth! Lucky me, I get to celebrate 2 Easters. Greek Easter is the following Sunday, so hopefully I can find Easter-ish things 50% off after Catholic Easter is done and dusted. I’m off to scroung for some sticks. Thanks for the inspiration! x

  19. Hi there…you don’t know me, so this might seem a little awkward, lol…but I love reading your blog and have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award! If you would like more information, all the details can be found on my page at mamacino.
    Kristin x

  20. I am just catching up on my blog reading – loving the “Easter Tree”. Gave me the giggles as I have just posted some photos of Easter decor circa 1959 (as you do…) and there is a very similar tree. Classics never date!

Have a wonderful Easter Beth. I hope you and your family enjoy every moment.
