Daycare Daisy

Daisy has been going to her daycare {at least one day and at most 3 days per week} since she was a wee baby at just 6 months old. Today, is her last day, just over 3 years later.

We have struggled with the worst drop offs. Ever. And I mean ever. Even if you think you have had a bad daycare drop off, you’ve got nothing on our drop offs. Really. Having her peeled off us, both of us in tears. She was had the best days. And the worst. She has learnt so much – both good and bad – and made us proud. Oh so proud of our little lady who had to be bigger & braver than most kids should have to be at her age. Because we had to work. Because we needed the break. Because it really was great for her and has no doubt helped her to be become the independent, smart, clever & funny girl that she is before us today.

I especially need to thank Rob today. For he was the one who did ALL of the drop offs {well 99% of then}. And they were hard. Really hard. There were mornings when he would call me in tears, trying to be brave, but breaking inside. He got to see the joy when he picked her up of an afternoon. He got to be Super Dad, he got to meet her friends, hear the stories and have “their chats” on the way to and from school. I know he will miss this time. Their time together.

I am sad that it’s the end of this road for her. Saying goodbye to her good friends and teachers that she will soon enough forget even existed. I am more than a little nervous that this means the end of time apart from her during the week. That it will be 24/7 for the next little while until we work out where her new school will be, and how often she will be there for. So there’s that.

But I’m mostly just excited, because this bit, was the very last bit before our new adventure begins.

So. Thank you daycare. For all your have given our little girl.

And hello new life, we will be with you on the morrow.
