Saturday & Sunday Sipper: MARGARITA

You know what I have been feeling like for the past week? A wilting flower that has all my sparkle and FUN sucked out of me by having to be an adult. All. The. Time. Do you ever get in that funk? Everywhere I look there’s responsibility and jobs, bills to pay and doing grown up stuff being a GROWN UP, and parent people that we made etc. It’s so boring. And as much as I’d like to go on an all night bender and dance on a podium and generally pretend I am a fun person, I can’t help but think of the hangover that would come with it, the money that would be better spent on things like our rates and BAS and electricity that is due next week and that the time would be better spent you know, doing some of those chores that need doing so that would free up my time to watch Married at First Sight at night.

I am middle aged. Boring. And there’s nothing that can be done about it.

So instead I will unpack the dishwasher at home for 45,897th time, bath the kids and maybe once all that has been done, make a drink.

Here’s a recipe for a Margarita that I made last Sunday that will no doubts get a run again. I like to think that’s there’s less calories in this than Prosecco, because you know, when you are suffering from adultitis, one should try not to eat and drink too much.

Margarita

1 part Tequila
1/2 part Cointreau
1 part freshly squeezed lime
Limed wedge for garnish
Salt

1. Cool your glass by placing ice into it for a few minutes
2. Into a cocktail shaker throw in lots of ice (or transfer from the glass) and add in equal parts of tequila to lime juice and half as much Cointreau (add as much or as little as you like just make sure that the parts are 1 to 1/2 to 1.
3. Cut a wedge of lime and run it around the rim of the glass. Pour some salt into a saucer and turn the glass over and press into the salt so that the salt sticks to the lime juice
4. Put lid on the cocktail shaker and shake well and pour immediately

I drink mine with the ice in but you can strain it and have without.

This is so refreshing and delicious and will immediately take you back to that time you were in Maldives and you had one at 11am in the morning when the sun was shining on the sparkling ocean, or that time you were in the cool little mexican place in the lower east side of NY and you drank some spicy margaritas.

And no doubts someone will ask you for something, and your bubble will be burst and reality will kick in. But until then, enjoy the drink!

Hope you guys have a good weekend that doesn’t involve too much adulting.
What are you up to?
Anyone going to be dancing on a podium?
PLEASE SOMEONE DANCE ON A PODIUM FOR ME.
For all of us.

  1. I have my mother in laws 70th birthday party with all the in laws – probably no dancing on a podium at this event! I am over the adulting thing too. My dad just got out of hospital after having a pace maker inserted, my grandmother is not well and we have been told to expect the worst, my motherโ€™s dog has started having seizures and my mother is very stressed about it, my sonโ€™s Fitbit was stolen out of his swim bag and I just received an email from a teacher to say one of my children has not done well on a maths test – hand me a margarita and donโ€™t make me adult anymore…..

  2. Fucking adulting can go and get fucked this week ๐Ÿ’ฏ๐Ÿ–•
