Monday meal ideas: Seafood

I am terrible at incorporating seafood into our weekly meals. I get lazy, I forget to buy the stuff, I am a little afraid of cooking fish and sometimes it just hard and expensive to add it into the trolley. But I am going to make more of an effort – even if it’s some simple tuned tuna tossed through pasta – anything to get those good oils and Omega somethings into my guts. Here are a few ideas of getting some seafood (all can be added into your supermarket trolley) this week!

I hope that you all have a great week – it well and truly feels like we are getting back into the swing of life now don’t you think? All those new school year adjustments are falling into place and the mundane routine is here. Sheesh, it never takes long. I hope you all have a good one!

  1. I bought myself a Muurikka electric smoker for Christmas. Salmon fillets take not much more than five minutes, depending on thickness. They taste wonderful. Am now branching out into other meats as an experiment. Everything tastes great. Prompt courier delivery to your door too and loads of recipes. It can be used on fireban days as it is electric. Easy to clean too. They also sell a smoking pan which can be used on an ordinary bbq.

  2. We do Fish on a Friday – usually bbqd salmon, but the kids love tiny fillets like garfish that take about a minute, baked trout is also delicious & easy. Then do a tinned tuna salad or pasta or some such or good quality fish fingers (cost a bit more but are adult friendly – can’t stand the watery mush of the cheaper ones) earlier in the week. Vegetarian dinners that aren’t either pasta or rice based are what I find tricky. & thank you for the one thing inspiration – baby steps – but replaced my shower curtain & put a light shade back up that was taken down to accommodate the Christmas tree.

  3. I love the look of your Tuna, Tomato and Basil Pasta! Seriously looks very yummy!!!

  4. I feel exactly the same way about seafood. I know we have to eat more but just never seem to buy it. Although we did bbq sardines recently. Delicious, easy to cook, cheap and kids loved it. Win Win!
