Summer snippets

Yesterday I was so caught up in the whole intruder in the house incident that I forgot to tell you all about the awesome weekend that we had. Up until the 12am Monday morning thing that is.

Friday lunchtime I headed up the coast (with the little ladies) to my Dad’s place at the beach for the weekend. We had a quick trip up there and spent the afternoon inside watching rain pour down around us. Harper was relaxed, Daisy was entertained and I was in good company – the perfect way to end the week! The girls were in bed early and had some of the best sleeps they have had in a loooooong time. I think I went to bed at 9pm, listening to the rain on the roof, and the waves in the distance reading some fabulous home magazine with the bed to myself. Honestly, it doesn’t get much better than that.
Saturday we awoke to a sunny, warm day and Rob joined us at lunchtime as we sat down for probably the last proper “summer” lunch for the season – prawn sandwiches and ice cold white wine. Um, YUM! We walked down to the beach, had ice creams, washed the car and soaked up the very last bits of summer. I think we got into bed even earlier on Saturday night – like 8.30pm or something equally as nannery – but again just the thing we all needed.
Sunday morning we were up and at it early as we had to get back home, get dressed and ready for a good friends wedding at 12. We dropped the girls off to be looked after by my little sis and made our way over to Balmoral to the Bathers Pavilion for the loveliest of weddings. The sun was shining, the champagne was flowing, the music was fantastic, the food was amazing and the love was all around us. Try and tell me a better way to spend the afternoon. Go on, just you try.
So, as you can see, it was the perfect summery weekend. Probably the last too. Full of great times with the kids, family and friends.

  1. Sounds utterly perfect – and how gorgeous do you two look! {although, in the thumbnail sized pic you did look like you were wearing a rather magnificent yellow feather boa {which made me squeal a little}. Luckily your outfit looked damned fine without the feathery accessories {and your hair – fab!}

  2. Oh, I love this last picture! Such great faces! I’m glad you had such a nice weekend, sorry it had to end with attempted ROBBERY!! (Still getting over that one!!)

    Have a great week!

  3. It sounds wonderful!

  4. It’s moments like that, that you need to flash back to when the going gets tough. It’s what gets you through!
